From what I've read, which is all spoon fed media stuff, they got a call that someone was breaking into cars... they show up and see him sitting nearby and approach him for questioning at which point he took off running as they were approaching.... which spurred a short foot chase that ended with him on the ground and quickly getting his face smashed into a curb. Backup arrived and threw in a few kicks/punches/tazes for good measure since he was fighting back. I personally think at that point he was fighting for his life and when they couldn't get him to be still (aka quit fighting for his life) they kept on until he quit moving ... then the guy died.


I honestly think he was guilty of SOMETHING or he wouldn't have tried to run. ALL of that, however, went out the door the very minute the guilty actions of the officers outweighed his POSSIBLE guilty actions of being in possession of stolen property and trying to out run the police.

Now let me ask this....

If he was 100000% guilty of breaking into cars, trying to evade police, and resist arrest... does that make this sort of this okay? When is enough ... ENOUGH? What are the rules on this sort of thing... do they have a "only beat them half to death" sort of clause in employee handbooks?

Really? I'm pretty sure cops duck calls that could endanger their lives from time to time, which is why you have response times of 30 minutes plus for robberies. You want to talk about a scary job? Try walking through a city where you're not sure if there are IED's, VED's, and EVERYONE in the city wants you dead. That's danger. Our guys told him when we returned to reload and refit "You better not close your eyes tonight sir." He was the kind of dick who caught us smoking after a field problem at Hood and walked over to us and said "Gas, gas, gas." and walked off. That was his favorite thing to do. Mopp4 in over 100 degree heat when our water buffalo was empty. He did it one time and the Sgt Major had to go to Mopp4 as well. That lasted 10 minutes when the SM discovered the LT was down to his brown t shirt.

He also had a personal problem with me and would take me on 8 mile runs the day before a PT test so I'd fail them.

And I hope they are punished. They made the choice to do what they did, and those that were there had the choice to stop them.

Most officers do treat CHL'ers differently. CHL'ers have passed a background, have shown initiative to take a class, and to assume the responsibilty of carry.

On the other hand, you have a small minority of liberal officers who think that no one should have a gun but officers.
