Not necessarily in the form of a spanking, either. I much prefer military style punishment. But if I can have a talk, and correct the problem, that's always my first choice. Every kid responds differently. Every parent parents differently. Some kids don't respond to spankings, just like some kids don't respond to talks. No one style is right for every parent, or every child.

I wanted to respond to this earlier, but got sidetracked with a deadbeat bet welcher.....

Besides.... Your kid is three. Let us know if your tune doesn't change a bit around 6-7.

I have to ride Mandy cause even though Peyton is a good kid. My daughter on the other hand has my blood & needs that firm hand and if her mother doesnt learn to stop avoiding conflict with the kids its going to haunt her with Aubrey cause she will run right over Mandy by the time she is in 3rd grade thus creating Huge problems in the future for Mandy & I.
That's true with anyone really though... a child will only reach for the boundaries set before them. If there are no boundaries, well then you know how that ends. She's a GREAT person, so I hope she finds that level ground soon because teenage girls are much tougher to get control of.

I told Peyton, Make sure to go out there & give that dog water in this heat & go check on him every couple hours. I brought my dog Buttkiss inside cause its hot. I told their mother that they should think about bringing him in and keeping him in his cage during the hot part of the day.
Well this morning I wake up & walk outside to have my morning coffee cause the sun is on the front side of their house & shady in the back. Well I find Jasper deceased laying right by the back door. Poor little guy was loyal right to the end. Well I go to check his water bowl & its completely empty, Also noted it wasn't tipped over. It was the way it should be,
My question is I want Peyton to understand the responsibility of animals & that they are living breathing creatures & not just toys. I am not certain if he passed from heat or maybe he didnt have enough water. I know this is going to be a moment that he remembers for the rest of his life. But it appears he wasn't given water at all yesterday while I was gone. I don't know if I should scold Peyton or console him.

That being said, it's wrong to put this solely on the kid when there's no clear lines drawn in the sand for him to see before hand the magnitude a responsibility like this brings with it.
