    offtopic.com

HUGE messageboard, but I think you have to pay to use it if you're a new member. For example, if you log on at 4am there will be over 1000 users in their version of "the back porch."

    I think it's like $1/mo or something

It's a general discussion board, not focused on anything. Think of it as the Seinfeld of message boards. Wildly popular with no central focus.

If a simple man from grass roots could still get elected today I might have gotten into politics instead of construction. Shit needs to change, and not the way that nigger in the white house is going about it.

The OP was about private fundraising, but I feel the same way about government spending. We've been bailing other countries out since WWI and the shit needs to stop.

It would be one thing if the countries were appreciative and tried to repay things or change things in their own country so that we wouldn't have to keep bailing them out, but the cycle continues. It's the same damn thing as welfare in this country. People take the handout, then don't use it to better themselves, then bitch about the country when they don't agree with something or their check is late.

Why the fuck can we not drug test welfare recipients and make them work on government projects to earn their money, which they in turn cannot spend on rims and cigarettes. You should also not be able to vote if you're on welfare at all, or unemployment for more than 6 months.

There are more than 3,000 homeless veterans locally, yet we send millions to everyone else.

Remember blackhawk down? Yeah, fuck Somalia.

Money being wasted on ridiculous shit - Millions of dollars on white boards that sent in basements.. I could go on.
I've heard that before. I wonder where all the money goes. Adiministration? Health care plans? It sure doesn't go to the teachers or get spent on the students.

Growing up I went two about a half-dozen school districts in two states. There a major differences in schools in poor rural areas, poorish urban areas, lower middle class urban areas, and pretty nice urban areas.

My friend's bro earns dick for income and the school he teaches in is falling apart. There's some massive waste somewhere because the money certainly isn't making it down to his level. He's a better man than me. I would bail and do something else that paid better and wasn't near as depressing. The stories he tells are shocking. It's right there with being a social worker. You see the worst of the worst and get paid next to nothing in return.

I'm all for private citizens helping, but it is not the government's responsibility to be charitable with my tax dollars. The US govt already provides tax incentives to give, that is enough IMHO.
