But yet he's looking at a 94 LT1 Firebird. If I was announcing publicly what horrible money shape I was in...I would be looking for Honda Civics, older Prelude's, maybe Accords, Camry's, Solara's...cars that got good gas mileage....but he's looking at Turbo DSM's, big Acura's, supercharged GTP's and Regals, LT1 F bodies?

Just like cops, one bad apple doesn't make all of us horrible people.Originally posted by racrguy View PostWell that just seals the deal. I won't be helping anyone I don't know out anymore. Survival of the fittest, dawg.
What's hurting this guy the most is that we've all busted out our jump to conclusions mats and are jumping like short fat kids trying to get the cake off of the counter.

He sold it because he hates hates hates hates hates hates gm cars.
Seriously that's a sorry ass way to act. Makes you think twice about helping people.

I think the main issue is the guys lack of humility in the situation, and that he is aggressively driving his only means of transportation after bellyaching on the board about how he cannot work and needs help with some things.
I can understand needing to get out from under a car before SHTF, but to talk about it like you're a used car dealer that is wheeling and dealing is a little much.
kyle is a good person from what i've gathered from our limited dealings and what i've seen on this board. he did this guy a solid favor and even if this guy isn't showing the humility we'd like to expect that doesn't take away from the fuzzy feeling kyle should have at all. big props to kyle and those who donated to this guy.

You did him right, and no one on this board is going to fault you for that.Originally posted by Kyle View PostIn all fairness guys, I told him that I would take what I did for the car. I know I could have gotten more for the car if I held out and posted it on CL, but a couple things were in play... I really wanted it out of my driveway and felt that helping someone was worth the loss on the deal. It wasn't a big issue at the time.
I even gave him an extra blower I had lying around so he could make use of it if needed (although the coupler was on the way out). I really felt that I was helping someone in a worse situation than myself and that warm/fuzzy feeling really made me feel good about everything.
One other thing. He came up earlier the same day the motor blew up in the car. I made him a hell of a sweet deal at the time. I let him get several interior parts and the deck lid off my other parts car for what little money he had. I think it was a measly $20. I felt good bc I was going to scrap that car after I pulled the parts that I needed and the interior pieces and deck lid would have been crushed probably. Oh well, hind sight...

You should have kept it and done some spirited driving on the back roads of Arlington.Originally posted by Kyle View PostIn all fairness guys, I told him that I would take what I did for the car. Yep. I believe he's had some tough luck. But seeing him most makes me wonder how must is his own doing.Originally posted by Grimpala View PostI"m sure the guy is legit, but he doesn't seem to have his priorities in order.
If I was looking for 'reliable' transportation it wouldn't be a 20 year old SHO or a DSM, it would be a 10 year old Honda or a newer Kia or something like that.
I understand what the guy is doing, and it's logical, IF he had a steady source of income and another car to drive, instead of being a mooch.
My $.02
I noticed he was logged in on Stangnet @ 1700. But hasn't stopped by here to post anything.

If the hernia isn't legit, he certainly keeps the act up.
