Yes, they can/will breed in the liquid. and the spillage that Jody mentioned. Also, you have to be religious about cleaning and maintaining your lines. Dirty lines = shit tasting beer. Depending on the kegerator and the components, the regulators can be finnicky little bitches too.

Be warned if you drop some coin on industrial, it's going to be more loud than you want, and suck a ton of juice compared to a residential unit. The absolute best way to do it is a back bar cooler, glycol line sets, and pumps. But you're going to shit when you see what that would cost.

Every kegerator should have a drip try with a line that runs back into the cooler with a container... fruit flies dont survive well in 38 degree temps.

As for a home glycol setup... that would be dfwm baller status just for some cold beer lol

i am thinking of investing in a kegerator. i drink copious amounts of bud light and buying thirty packs every 3 or 4 days gets costly. have you ever owned one? ups? downs? is it worth the investment? i am just looking for helpful info...

When it gets close to being full and you're trying to ease it someplace to dump it. That's a shitload of condensation... spills all over the place.

Had one in undergrad, it was pretty cool and saved a little $. You have to be diligent about emptying the drip tray.

Built a bar in the backyard with a kegerator under the bartop and remote plumbed to a tap. Used it for one giant party... Tore it down 6 months later and gave the kegerator to my brother.

LOL...when i first looked at that pic, i thought the lawn gnome was part of the tap!!!
