Monday after I got done at the gym it was around 1p. I was driving down Pleasant run and passed a 2000ish larger size luxury car with a older woman in it and the windows down. She was sitting at the stop sign on a four way intersection. I noticed several people almost get hit by oncoming trying to go around her. I drove by and got abouttttt 50 to 100 yards up the road and thought , thats f ed up, what if that was my mother sitting there. I turned around and hopped out. I am sure she thought holy shit this big ass red neck is about to kill me. I asked her if she was ok and needed anything. She said no she had her mechanic coming. I asked if she would like me to get her out of the middle of the road and she did. I burned the shit out of my palms pushing that giant turd out of the road. I would have pushed it with the truck but her bumper was scratch free. Can you believe two cars had the nerve to honk while I was trying to get her out of the intersection. People are sorry.She had been sitting there over 15 minutes.

There is no harm in offering, if they get offended from just that, that's their own personal issue.

I spent a weekend helping a close friend and his wife paint the interior of their house, and thought it was fun. Not so much the work itself, but the commradarie (sp), and being able to help out. Same with countless other friends and relatives, govong knowledge or physical help is the LEAST that you can do for someone genuine and in need.

I'll help a complete stranger, but I guage what I'm willing to offer based on the situation at hand, and as importantly their demeanor.

I've helped a kid push his old Mercedes out of the intersection before and loaned him my cell phone to call his parents. Assholes just kept driving by and honking and it was holding up traffic big time. It still pisses me off that noone else stopped to help, I mean it was an old 300 class and those damned cars weigh nearly 5k pounds. It sucked pushing that thing.

I'm pretty good at reading people and understanding the situation. If you are a random junkie and are asking for help I'll be a complete prick to you. I'm really good at reading through a line of bullshit. If you look like a decent person and are struggling and I think I can help I will, as long as I don't think it's going to hold me back too much.

I went today to go see Adrian for lunch at Childrens Medical City & there was this old guy who was big. His poor wife tried to help him up out the bench, but she was tiny & this guy was really struggling. I offered my hand & asked him if he needed help & he gladly took it & helped him out of the bench.

I do not look foward to getting old. I think my generation is the last generation with any commen courtsey

I try to help because I've been there trying to do shit like move furniture and hold open a door at the same time I know it's great to have someone do something as simple as hold the door open. Just yesterday I was at KFC and when I walked up to the door there was a middle aged woman behind me (I am 27) and I held the door open for her, and she had this look of total misbelief on her face that someone my age would hold a door open for a woman. And she said "thank you" which is also getting more and more uncommon these days.

But yeah I'm always helping move some furniture, or holding doors, helping someone lift something if I see them struggling, etc. But I do not offer to help paint.
