Regardless of being able to be traced, I'd personally do what I could to see that it gets back to it's rightful owner.
I travel with a back pack full of 2 laptops, and various other electronics, and could easily think that everything is packed, when it isn't. An ipad would be the least of my concerns in terms of losing something.

The right thing to do is try to contact Apple or maybe the Airlines to report you found the Ipad. On the other hand somebody stupid enough to forget something so expensive should know better and just chalk it up to lesson learned...your conscious will be your guide.

I'm not very Apple friendly, but can I just wipe it, and use it? Should I report it found? Or just sell it on craigslist/ebay?
I really don't like the iOS and wouldn't use it.

I'm a fucking retard and left my Ipad 2 in the seatback pocket of an airplane on Wednesday night. I've done all I can through the airlines, but have very little hope that it'll show up. It was the most basic 16GB WiFi version, but with the cover, it's still $700 to replace. Anyone aware of any tracking method? Some people

It would be super cool to give it to the airline, since the rightful owner will probably contact them looking for it.
