I think his point is the dogs are physically able to kill a human, that alone makes them a liability. Placing your lives, or the lives of your children on the whim and attitude of a dog at any particular time is (in my opinion) reckless. And let's not be ignorant here, pit bulls do have considerably higher rates of injury/death than other dog breeds.

there are good dogs and bad dogs in every breed... when the min pin that never showed signs of aggression before snaps, your baby gets a little scrape... when the pit bull that never showed signs of aggression before snaps, your baby gets shredded.
oddly enough, when I was looking for a reputable breeder, I didn't find any Aussie kennels with names like "Razor" or "Gotti" and no pictures of roided out dogs w/ spiked collars tugging against 3/8" chrome chain. But a quick search of Pit Bull breeders brings up plenty of that stuff...
could it be because pit bulls are the go-to bad ass dog for trash?
nah, I'm just an uninformed "hater"

"no way man... any pit bull that injures a human isn't a true pit bull... it's a mutt that looks like a pit bull and is called a pit bull and sold as a pit bull by the people breeding them and by the people buying them. but they're NOT pit bulls!!! you're just ignorant"Originally posted by 5.0_CJ View PostI think his point is the dogs are physically able to kill a human, that alone makes them a liability. Because it's untrue. It's weird reading your posts, because you post something and then turn around and argue against yourself. I'm not sure how to even work with that, other than to sit back and chuckle.Originally posted by Cooter View Postgreat dogs that are killing machines... you refuse to acknowledge that

are you suggesting that pit bulls aren't extremely capable of causing severe injury to another animal?Originally posted by jluv View PostBecause it's untrue. change our minds about what? that a pit bull ate a fucking 13mo old baby for breakfast?Originally posted by Steve View PostJared, just ignore them. You clearly aren't going to change their minds so don't bother wasting your time and energy trying to do so.

I ignore the well established village idiots for the most part. I just figured Forrest was different. And he is. Then he isn't. Then he is. Go figure.Originally posted by Steve View PostJared, just ignore them. You clearly aren't going to change their minds so don't bother wasting your time and energy trying to do so.

I think I should tread lightly on this subject, because the subject mirrors assault rifles in a similar fashion. Both are perceived to be deadly and dangerous evil things. Both receive inflated media coverage. Both enjoy a large amount of misinformation and ignorance. However, my gun requires a person to work, the dog can kill someone with no human intervention.
A lot of the time you hear about pit bulls 'snap' - however there's a reasonable case to be made that no owner who's dog just killed a baby would say "Aw shit fool, that damn dog was fuckin' crazy." They would probably say it was the best dog ever and "just snapped" for liability reasons. So, I will dismiss the above talking points.
However... What I struggle with is the fact that you have an animal that's proven time and time again to be physically capable of killing a human. That poses a problem for me. Because essentially you're asking to place your life and well being of your family into the mental capacity of a dog, which for all intents and purposes have an intelligence which is extremely shallow, and moral reasoning which is questionable if nonexistent. Dogs can be extremely loyal, loving, and enjoyable. Dogs also react to their environment - certain stimulants and events can cause very polar changes in attitude or aggression. Consider this: how many times have you yourself flipped out and broken something in a rage? Ever been accused of getting pissed for no reason? Now place that same responsibility into the low capacity and reasoning abilities of a dog with the physical capability of killing someone. It's a certainly a liability in my opinion.Last edited by CJ; 09-07-2011, 09:29 AM."When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic." -Benjamin Franklin

agreed... but a lot of other dogs that are highly capable of killing (which is the definition of killing machine BTW) aren't coveted by trash for their bad ass killing abilities.Originally posted by jluv View PostOf course not. Lots of dogs fall into that category.
I wouldn't leave a baby around a lab, german shepherd, etc. Nor would most responsible dog owners. I've met a lot of responsible pit bull owners, but MOST I've met/encountered were trash.

What you say applies to a lot of breeds, though. For the record, pit bulls are considered to be of higher than average intelligence among dogs.Originally posted by 5.0_CJ View PostI think I should tread lightly on this subject, because the subject mirrors assault rifles in a similar fashion. A lot of points made in this thread are valid, or at least somewhat valid. There's just a shit ton of moronic shit mixed in.
