How much would you have tipped if the entire bill was $350?

So while you are touting your generous tipping skills.. you are really saving yourself about $270 over what anyone else would have had to pay assuming 20% tip.

At this place, I tip 40-50% depending on how many courses, drinks, whether or not I got a bottle of wine, etc. I didn't save myself anything. He would have received that or close to it regardless.

Obviously, an incredibly nice thing the restaurant did.

I never saw a tab for either, so it's hard to say what it cost, but if I had to guess, it was $350ish between the two. The waiter at the first place got a tip of $150, and the bartender at the second got a tip of $50. Pay it forward. Yes, they are doing a job. But you take care of those that take care of you. I think tips are a good indicator of character. When I date a girl, I will let them pick up the tab one night to see how they tip. Shitty tipper, gets shown the door. I know girls that judge men they date the same way.

Tipping well and helping people out comes back around to you. Treating people like shit does the same thing.

A few weeks ago, I was at the meskin tire shop getting some changeovers done on my dually before I sold it. I think my bill was like $60. Each of the three dudes who sweat their fucking asses off working on my truck got a $5 bill.

That would be like me expecting a tip for installing gears when I'm already getting paid a salary. And if you don't tip me I'll leave your lug nuts loose. I don't do that. I do the job I was hired for an am getting paid by my employer for. I don't expect a tip nor do I typically even accept one. This is my job!! I chose to work doin this I don't expect anything more or anything less. That's like tipping the guy at the carwash $10 on a $5 wash to take your money ad spray the front of your car with soapy water. That is the job you chose. If it doesn't pay enough get another job. Don't expect someone to pay your salary.

    My opinion
You install gears for $2.13 an hour?

I will say I dont see $5 tip on Pizza. Most pizza's are $12 to $15 at best. I tip %15 to %20 as a rule of thumb. $5 is crazy to me

He has a point. A tip is a courtesy and not required unless gratuity is included in the bill. I waited tables for several months while between jobs and it sucked, but realized it's a necessity to work for whatever "reward" I received.

I over tip as a rule just because I would not to be wanting that job... I am out of the having food come to me biz though... The major chains used to be edible now its just shit on dough but "Its only 10$ no matter toppings or size" screw that I am done. If I want a no shit pizza done right I will drive to an Italian joint and sit and eat just like I would a steak dinner..... All the joints now are in competition on big for less money. You get what you pay for....

They have a pretty nice Pizza Hut in Forney, and I still like to go to the buffet on a very rare occassion.

The Napolis in town still has the best pizza though.
We eat at Napolis here in Garland all the time
