Today Netflix announced that it will split itself in two. It will create a new company (or division?) named Quikster for the DVD rental business. The streaming business will continue to be Netflix.

WTF? Is this company intent on killing itself?

i can't believe how many people are bitching about the amount/quality of streaming content... it's only 8 fucking dollars!

i had to stay at a friends house for a few days cause he was really sick and had nobody to look after him. since i was off for a week i just crashed on the couch and watched netflix the entire time, never getting bored with the selection. hell to be honest i would pay up to $25 for the selections they have now without a second thought

for a bunch of ballers you motherfuckers sure are sounding cheap! lol

We kept the streaming. We never watched the rentals anyway.

    That statement makes on sense.

Netflix has publicly stated that they WANT customers using their streaming service instead of renting DVDs. Shipping is their single biggest expense. The problem is that they have failed to expand their streaming library by any real significance and they have also slipped in not expanding their streaming ability fast enough.

The quality/quantity they have streaming sucks. I have the online streaming but it there isn't much current.

I agree, it was good at the lower rate, but their lack of major titles blows. I canceled as well.

I cancelled streaming and went from 1 disc to 2. I'd gladly pay $20 bucks a month for streaming only if their selection was ALOT bigger. And what I mean by a lot is their entire collection.

right, same here. Their streaming service really needs some help. Judging by how they are juggling their content, they have some server limitations. And for some reason, I haven't noticed a marked improvement at all in the last 3 years or so.

I was ready to jump ship to Hulu Plus, but after subscribing it turned out to be a pretty pointless service, cancelled after the first month.
i like hulu plus for some of the TV shows, but their movie selection sucks major monkey nuts....I do not for the life of me know where they get their movies from. so a buddy and i collaborated....he signed up for netflix streaming $8 month and i got the Hulu Plus for $8 a month and we just traded sign on/password info. so its like getting both for just $8 a month.

If I could get everything I wanted through streaming I would be willing to $20-$30 a month for that, but until then I'm out.
