This is good advice....had the same thing happen to me several years back. I won auction on a BMW from a dealer down in Houston...flew down there, picked it up, and drove it back...was some little wholesale outfit. Since it was a dealer they charged me the TTL and gave me a temp tag. Once the tag got near expiration I started calling them and getting the run around....several calls and no returned messages, etc. It got to a point where my temp tag had been out for over a month...I started thinking I was going to have to go back down to Houston. However a cop friend of mine suggested that I call the DMV....I called, filed a case, and to my amazement actually received a call back the very next day. They eventually sent a State Trooper out to this rinky dink place to get them off their ass....I got my plates and reg receipt shortly afterward, and also a call from the a-hole owner trying to bitch at me for the fine that he was apparently issued on the day of the trooper visit.Originally posted by Buzzo View PostCall the Department of motor Vehicles and file a complaint, they'll fine them out the ass
As a dealer in Texas they are held accountable and the state has no problem issuing a citation to those who don't play by the rules.70' Chevelle RagTop

Finally getting somewhere. I let them know what the DMV told me and they said they just received the title today from the previous dealership ( they bought the truck at auction from prev. dealer) and were going to do everything today and overnight the tags and paperwork to me.
I know their story is complete shit. To be honest, you can tell me your dog ate it as long as I get what I need I do not care.

they are krunk, if Mustangguy filed a claim they'll get at least a 2000.00 fine. The two guys who work this/that area dont fuck around or listen to your story, they side automatically with the consumerOriginally posted by Rreemo View PostThis is good advice....had the same thing happen to me several years back. If she gets me the stuff I need I will let it go. If I run into one more issue I will file.Originally posted by Buzzo View Postthey are krunk, if Mustangguy filed a claim they'll get at least a 2000.00 fine. yea you can, but man there is no reason why they should avoid you. If I have title issues when I sell a car I tell the customer there is an issue. If they make a big deal about it I offer to buy the car back. What they did was illegal, and they were shady. I say hell with them. I've had them called on me for some stupid shit which I wasnt fined for as I didnt do anything wrong, never had a major problem like this be escalated to the DMV.Originally posted by mustangguy289 View PostIf she gets me the stuff I need I will let it go. Man, fuck that. Listen to Rreemo and Buzzo. I wouldn't let it go. I'd file that shit on them and hope they get fucked in the ass. It's bullshit that they have been giving you the run around for this God damned long.Originally posted by mustangguy289 View PostIf she gets me the stuff I need I will let it go. Exactly. Or you can take it back and they have to give you all of your money back. My family has a small dealership and we have never had trouble getting a title within 60 days until one I have right now. The auction (Manheim-very large legit auction) I got it from says the dealer had to file for a lost title in New York and that it takes 5-6 weeks to process. I sold the vehicle the week I got it. Just passed the 60 days and told the customer the situation and his options. He was cool with it and we just issued another tag.... So it may not be all the dealers fault, but they should at least keep you informed.Originally posted by scootro View Postthe dealer can reissue you another temp tag!

Yep, but technically you aren't supposed to sell it till you get the title. Manheim nearly fucked us over because we bought a car from them and the seller went out of business and we had already sold the car. Fortunately they came through and got the title.Originally posted by slownbmta View PostExactly. Or you can take it back and they have to give you all of your money back.
