Cisco is a 3G area as long as you are close to town. If you get a few miles away from I20 though, it switches back to Edge.

How to get Internet in the Boonies?

We have the Sprint MiFi. It is expensive but it was either that or dial up. We got lucky and got grandfathered in on the unlimited plan years ago. If you can get cell service you can get internet through any providers mobile internet card. They have some that plug into a USB or some like the MiFi that puts out a wireless signal so multiple users can be on at the same time.

Sucks - if cellular/3/4g is not an option than it would seem satellite is your best bet - unless you can find a wifi based carrier out there.
Dont know that it will work and its a 2 year contract for the air cards. We already have a IPad that gets service great except for at the lease, so I dont want to have to pay for another additional service that May or may not work. If I knew it would work, I wouldnt mind locking inti the 2 year.
And IPhone offers a deal where the 4G will work as a modem, but you have to give up your unlimited data plan for it. And you can no longer get the unlimited data once you have let it go.

If you're going Satellite, get HughesNet. If you have to have internet in the middle of nowhere, it's the best option over dialup. I'm not sure what HughesNet is advertising as far as speeds go, but I typically see DL speeds in the 1-1.5mbps range. I think the daily limit packages start at 200MB per day.
And if there were a problem, Cisco is in my area. I should* be the one who a call gets dispatched to.
I don't sell or install their systems, just repair them if there's a problem..
