Happens all the time. That was an exceptionally large one, but I regularly see people with 20-100k in revolving debt. It's possible she had a higher income at one time. Could have been the spouse of someone wealthy. A lot of time what will happen is people will pay their credit cards very well and the balances increase time and time again. I imagine my credit score is quite low. I haven't had a late payment on anything since 1994, but my debt to income ratio is poo.
