If the dirty hippies at Ben & Jerry's are so concerned then why don't they donate all their profits to charity? I'm not talking about part of them, let them set an example and lead the way for others. Oh, that's right they are just as "greedy" as everyone else in this country that they supposedly despise. It is always the other guys who are evil. Always the other guys who don't pay a "living wage". WTF is a living wage anyway, is that $3 hour more than the other assholes? Big fucking deal, hippies.
I heard this morning that Wells Fargo is going to report record profits next week. Take that hippies!

Well...another reason for me to continue to not buy Ben & Jerry's
Ben & Jerry's may have served up a creamy bowl of support for Occupy Wall Street's attack on corporate profits, but the ice cream purveyor's European parent mega-company is having its own issues putting away a messy pension battle with its workers in Britain.
Ben & Jerry's, the socially-conscious Vermont company that was purchased by Unilever in 2000, voiced its support for the anti-Wall Street protests on Friday, expressing its "deepest admiration" to those who have participated in the protests, which have now entered their fourth week.
"We know the media will either ignore you or frame the issue as to who may be getting pepper sprayed rather than addressing the despair and hardships borne by so many, or accurately conveying what this movement is about," read a statement on the company's website. "All this goes on while corporate profits continue to soar and millionaires whine about paying a bit more in taxes. And we have not even mentioned the environment."
The statement, which was signed by the company's board of directors, also characterized inequities between classes in the United States as "immoral" and claimed corporations are "permitted to spend unlimited resources to influence elections while stockpiling a trillion dollars" rather than hiring workers.
"We know that words are relatively easy, but we wanted to act quickly to demonstrate our support," the statement continued. " … We have provided support to citizens’ efforts to rein in corporate money in politics, we pay a livable wage to our employees, we directly support family farms and we are working to source fairly traded ingredients for all our products. But we realize that Occupy Wall Street is calling for systemic change. We support this call to action and are honored to join you in this call to take back our nation and democracy."
Across the Atlantic, however, union workers at Unilever in the United Kingdom have vowed to continue with a possible strike vote over the closure of its pension plan. Unilever -- a conglomerate that employs more than 167,000 workers and sells more than 170 billion products annually -- announced plans to close its salary pension plan in April, the Financial Times reports. It employs roughly 7,000 workers in the United Kingdom.
The company was forced to extend talks late last week in light of irate workers upset by seeing their pension plans replaced with less generous packages. Unions, angered by what they call the "arrogant" removal of the plan, expect to announce a timetable for a vote in coming weeks, the newspaper reports.
In a statement to FoxNews.com, Ben & Jerry's said it issued the statement last week because it is "consistent" with the company's mission statement and values.
"We believe that people can change America, and that caring capitalism can make a difference," the statement read. "We're showing our appreciation for those who are taking part in this non-violent, peaceful and democratic movement by coordinating ice cream through the Food Committee on site where they'll distribute. We continue to discuss with other organizations and partners to explore where we can be most supportive."
Messages seeking comment from Unilever were not returned on Monday.

Oh look, who does this remind you of?

Chavez to seize homes and hotels for the poor on idyllic Los Roques

Venezuela president Hugo Chavez's policy of nationalising strategic private businesses has taken a new twist with his announcement that his government will expropriate hotels and holiday homes at an upmarket Caribbean resort.
The president plans to turn Los Roques, an idyllic archipelago of deserted beaches of perfect white sand with swaying palms and dazzling coral reefs, into a state-run getaway for his country's urban poor.
Speaking on national television, he said that yachts and speedboats confiscated from fugitive bankers would be used to transport holidaymakers from the mainland. "There are some houses there that were illegally built. We are going to expropriate them."
Talking by phone link rather than appearing in person – a tactic the president has increasingly used since starting chemotherapy for cancer – he added that the archipelago, a national park, had in effect been privatised by Venezuelan and foreign members of "the upper bourgeoisie".
The measure may turn out to be one of Mr Chavez's least controversial nationalisations. Los Roques was declared a protected area in 1972 and it is unclear why local authorities permitted any private properties on the islands, effectively allowing the archipelago to become one of Latin America's most exclusive beach destinations. Lying 95 miles off Venezuela's northern coast, Los Roques is a paradise for bird watchers, snorkellers and scuba-divers.
Since assuming office in 1999, Mr Chavez has overseen widescale nationalisations in Venezuela, including cement makers, steel mills and large swathes of land belonging to international corporations but deemed idle by the government.
He has also forced some of the world's largest energy companies to renegotiate drilling contracts for the country's highly-prized oil fields. Venezuela now has the largest crude reserves in the world, according to the president.
However, this would be the first time that Mr Chavez has targeted private homes. Not all the nationalisations have gone smoothly. Mr Chavez's government took over several supermarket chains, justifying the move by saying they were not catering to the country's poor. The stores now sell food at heavily-subsidised prices but often lack basic staples, and shoppers frequently have to queue for hours.
Expropriating Los Roques could help position Mr Chavez, 57, who had surgery to remove a malignant tumour from his pelvis in June, for presidential elections next year. He is massively popular with Venezuela's poor but his poll ratings, now hovering around 40 per cent, are some 30 per cent below their historic high.
