That right there is what kills me, the wives at home worrying. My cousin has dealt with that for way too long. Stay safe, and come home.Originally posted by kbscobravert View PostI don't need any help there. My wife does not know I am going back to driving convoys again. I only told her I was going TDY to kabul. Her response was "at least you are not driving agian, I always worried the most in those days"

Going on 6 years and my wife has been there the entire time. She is at the end of her rope though. Hopefully this inteview tonight will go well enough I can put notice in. It will be hard leaving a place where I have lived and worked for the past 5 plus years though. I am not going to lie, I will miss it when I finally do leave.Originally posted by Big A View PostThat right there is what kills me, the wives at home worrying. I came home for a bit in September and was supposed to stay, but they changed the base closure and needed as much help as possible to get it all complete by the end of the year. I figured if it would help get the troops out, I'm down for it.Originally posted by Big A View PostDid you stay for some reason? I coulda swore that you were stateside already. My crew of 8 here has closed out about half of the crap out here and ahead of schedule.

I hate to even bring this up, but can you bolster your life insurance? It's a necessary evil, but we all need to plan for the worst and hope for the best.Originally posted by kbscobravert View PostThanks guys. Scott I sent you a PM, Matt you have one coming.
I am heading to Kabul to do Convoy assessments/security and then taking over the movements. Time to hit the roads again; not happy but it is the packet I have been handed. Bringing me back to 2008 but with more authority and freedom of management to make changes. Given the events and losses I had on Saturday in that AO I have free reign to make any call I deem necessary.

I already have my life insurance as high as I can get it with my employer right now. I will be good. Just have to be smart and keep my head on a swivel, trust my gut and not get complacent.Originally posted by 03trubluGT View PostI hate to even bring this up, but can you bolster your life insurance? You guys stay safe....my father in law has been out of communications contact since last Thursday. He is slowly making his way back to kuwait. He needs for the closures to keep happening so he can get "his" vehicles out of country....ugh. It sucks...He has been there for 4 years almost continually.....Like I said, y'all be safe!! My thoughts and prayers are with each of you!

I have several friends who are Marines. Some are no longer serving, but they are still Marines and always will be. No "former" or "ex" about it. It's a lot more than a title to the folks who've served. One of my best friends is a Master Gunnery Sergeant and just got back from Afghanistan on a 9 month tour. It's in his blood. It's who he is.Originally posted by Yale View PostI was always told that, "former," was more polite than, "ex." Should I just say, "retired?"
