So I called Direct TV and explained what I wanted to do. Its working out better than I ever thought it might. I get the Reciever with DVR free, dish free and installation free. 21.60 for delivery and 6 bucks a month for 2 years. AND... they will install tomorrow! SWEET!!!

If you have internet at the stand or wherever you can sling shit to your phone tablet pc etc.Originally posted by BlackSnake View PostI have! Do tell...
You hook it up to your dvr and you can control the channel remotely.

yeah lolOriginally posted by mirefire 2.0 View PostYou do realize that, that article is from 2007 right?
i dont have an account with them anymore so i couldnt show it from their webpage. sorry. it is still available though. i think what the price is now is a one time fee of $500 and it could be cheaper by now. that was about this time last year when i looked in to it. then it is like adding another reciever to your account. so like an extra $5 a months.

now the way to get this you have to already have direct tv service and you have to order on line while on the phone with customer service. its pretty cool cuz it is all in one system. so no extra satellite to dial in to get a picture and you could take it any place as long as you have a clear view to the southern sky.

I have tried this and could not get it to work. I am wondering if the new receivers are married to the LNB's now days. Tried different one and could not get it to work.Originally posted by BlackSnake View PostI assume that I can use any dish (craigslist), or do I need to get one from them?

I believe the extra reciever is like 5/10 bucks a month, but how much for the extra dish?Originally posted by SMKR View Postjust buy a receiver, extra dish, rig it up, have the receiver activated, boom done. I hooked it up at our deer lease in about 15 mins.

Can I just get a dish and receiver off craigslist and hook it up out there, or do I need to go through Direct TV with my current account? And what about getting local channels in the lease area (Abilene).
