That's kind of what I was getting at. They don't want to go to court anymore than he does. It never hurts to be polite and act like you care, either.Originally posted by davbrucas View PostI have had a reckless driving charge. I just went to the DAs office and talked with them. Paid a fine and they dropped it to a lesser offense. I didnt have an attorney.

Reckless driving is a ticketable offense.Originally posted by pr1042 View PostI got this for a class b misdemeanor. Could be off though
Sec. 12.22. CLASS B MISDEMEANOR. An individual adjudged guilty of a Class B misdemeanor shall be punished by:
(1) a fine not to exceed $2,000;
(2) confinement in jail for a term not to exceed 180 days; or
(3) both such fine and confinement.
I looked it up when I got out of jail.

Probably the most sound advice so far.Originally posted by Vertnut View PostBefore I just hand over $1500, I'd go to the city you got it in and just talk to them (maybe even a judge?) and see what it will take to get it taken care of. If it's a max $200 fine, they might even offer deferred adjudication. I'd just pay it and move on.

How do I talk to a judge without a court date?Originally posted by mstng86 View PostTalk to multiple lawyers, and maybe talk to a judge first.
Seems like everytime I've went up there they cause a big stink whenever I mention anything about a judge.

It can't hurt to talk to them before handing him $1500. That might not even be his total fee, but enough to get hin "started". Lawyers have a way of milking your ass dry, especially a young person that might not know better and is easily swayed.Originally posted by 91CoupeMike View PostThat was my plan but this lawyer made it seem like it's a bigger deal then that. He said a class b is a serious violation.
