But, of course, that isn't happening. Chap 11 is just reorganization. AA gets with the creditors and reorganizes it's debt. Some debts may be cancelled but a lot of it won't be. Commonly held stock can be cancelled but sometimes it isn't. There is a lot more to it than that but that's the gist of it...

I'm just wondering if they'll cancel my miles. I'm betting they won't but you never know.
Honestly, it's better than bailing them out.

The unions are not the problem. Facts are we have some of the lowest pay and benefits in the industry.

That's because his uncle is management. The unions took big concessions back in 2003. While we haven't received a dime more in pay since then managment has been getting big bonuses and pay increases year after year.

I quit flying American after a trip to Italy in 2004. Idiots.
I just used the last of my reward points with them except 4,000 or so and I may very well find a different airline to use. I dislike AA with a passion.

Those points add up though, I had no idea but I flew just around 110,000 miles in the last year and a half. And to think they couldn't give me a $100 voucher for losing my luggage in India for 3 weeks.... Shits crazy!

You'd think with their damn baggage fee's they would have plenty of cash set aside.

They will bail at the pensions for sure.

My wife's mother has been working there for over 40 years. Their pension will go to another company, which have already said if AA goes bankrupt they will have to file for bankruptcy, which then will go to the government for us tax payers to bail out the pensions.

That's why you saw a massive exit of old pilots retiring this past year as they saw the writing on the wall. If they haven't retired by today, they will only get up to 45k a year for their pension, instead of the 200-300k+.
