No, they aren't just normal people, police officers take an oath to hold themselves to higher standards than other people. Without it, they become nothing more than deputized civilians. The only reason the Marines was brought up, is because Matt brought it up. And Marines too are not just normal people, their training teaches them that they are above normal people, non soldiers, and even as compared to other soldiers, they are better than any other branch. It's part of the killer instinct mentality taught to them. It's been discussed many times, by many different experts, that post service Marines typically have the hardest time readjusting to a "normal" life, because of this better that everyone else mentality they leave the service with.

but they are all still human and have different personalities... what they are in uniform is the "high standard" that we need/want in them... out of uniform they could be anything else they want... (obviously they would hopefully of more sound mind then to rob banks in their free time)Originally posted by Silverback View PostNo, they aren't just normal people, police officers take an oath to hold themselves to higher standards than other people. I joined the Marines and went through boot where they tear you down and build you back up... have you ever thought of me/or seen me act like that?

he's pushing buttons just like you are toward him... I don't think either one of you are "Right" because you are both saying opinions but you are both wrong in taking to such a stupid extreme.Originally posted by bcoop View PostHe's trying to intimidate me, by threatening violence and/or being arrested for voicing an opinion. I didn't say every Marine is that way after service, I said that studies have shown many typically have a hard time.Originally posted by 2165 Turbo Rail View Postbut they are all still human and have different personalities... what they are in uniform is the "high standard" that we need/want in them... out of uniform they could be anything else they want... And even out of uniform police are to hold themselves to the same standard as when they are in uniform. It's not just a job, where when you take off the uniform you stop being a cop. It's a 24/7 thing. Of course everyone has different personalities, Matt is acting hotheaded and threatening a physical altercation with Brent if he tells him what he thinks of how he is acting in this thread in person, even after inviting him to do that very thing.

No, Chris. He's not "just pushing buttons". I voiced an opinion. No different than me saying Taco Bell sucks. He has threatened violence, and only after he realized he'd lose his job and pension for acting like a dumbass, he then made thinly veiled threats of arresting me. It's posted here for all to see. And he can go back and delete all he wants. There is record of it all and it will be summoned to court by an attorney. If he wants to arrest me, that's cool. I'll be out before he gets in bed tomorrow night. But this entire thread is evidence, there's no way around that. I can handle an hour or two in Arlington jail. Not optimal, but it's not going to affect me one way or another.Originally posted by BradMBut, just like condoms and women's rights, I don't believe in them.Originally posted by LeahIn other news: Brent's meat melts in your mouth.
