No Front Plate Ticket?

I helped work a hit and run a couple of weeks ago at Miller/287 where someone whacked a telephone pole and drove off. Guess what, the LP was left on the scene. Not to hard to follow the trail on that one.....

That seems like a really far-fetched justification for a front plate, lol.

The rear plate provides plenty of vehicle identification for law enforcement. IMO there are two real justifications for a front plate: probable cause for pulling over suspicious vehicles, and additional revenue.

I agree. Thats why i said stupid but a law. However, the trooper that gave both my classes said to turn them on and if they skipped to fail it. I always do it wet though to check function so if they clean its good. And back to the law of plates. Alot has to do with opposite travel recognition. It gives a officer the opportunity to see plate head on instead of trying to read in mirror or turning around.

It's expired now, but yes, I did, when I was a service manager for one of the large chains. My shop was honest as hell and people routinely brought friends in for that reason. From what I saw in that industry the shops that failed people for shit like that were the ones that had managers after every dime, pushing stuff like that, power steering flushes, fuel system treatments, and other snake oil BS designed to only increase the bottom line.

And when the license was active I wouldn't bust anyones balls on BS like that when it is so subjective and open to your interpretation of the code. Torn an inch, failed. As for the skipping part I never had any inspectors actually turn the danged things on. And in class the instructors never said anything at all about that. They taught to look for torn blades, tint too dark, etc. but never to actually turn them on...

To the OP, I've recieved numerous NFP tickets, mostly in Plano. I can only talk about them, but I can tell you to have it dismissed it has to be mounted to the front bumper, cover, how you mount it is usually not important. In Plano they will dismiss the ticket but they will still charge you a $10.00 adminstrative fee and they will go outside and check it.

And you are always on the side that bitches and moans.

The last time I went up to PPD headquarters was about three years ago, for this exact ticket. I had just picked up my car at HPP and Plano's finest pulled me over for expired inspection sticker (it expired while at HPP) and no front plate. Of course the he also gave me a ticket for expired insurance card, you know I hardly drive the Cobra anymore. I went to pay it after I got it inspected and "mounted" the front plate back on. They charged me $10.00 for the NFP and $10.00 for the dismisal of the Inspection sticker, the latter I had to go back up there two more times but I finally got it dimissed. That in it self was an ordeal, but thats when I learned the PD's are nothing more than revenue generators, no matter what Matt sez on this website...

The dashboard thing no longer flies. It has to be mounted to the front bumper.

I looked up the TX state law on that recently and it said visible from the frontend, but I believe in the ast little while they changed it to it must be on the furthest front point of the car...

What if someone backs into your driveway to burglarize you home and the neighbor can't see a plate?

Isn't that the next question? There are 4 sides to a car. There is no way to identify it from the sides. Should there or should there not be license plate on each side also? Please explain your stance.
