  • Good red wine suggestions?

Going to my Granny's for Christmas and wanted to have a nice red wine for our dinner which will be a simple shepard's pie. I don't drink wine at all so any help would be appreciated.

I like malbecs and cabernets. You'll have more variety with the cabernet as the malbec selection you'll encounter will probably only only take up a shelf, where your cabs will take up an entire aisle.

Normally I would just say get a red that you like but since you don't drink wine that won't help. If she makes it with lamb which is traditionally what's in shepherd's pie, you could get a cab, zin, pinot, syrah, or merlot. I like cab myself. Stag's Leap is one of my favorites.

You could start now and have a great prison wine brewed up by then.

Strawberry hill , remember serve at room temp and let it breathe after you unscrew the cap .

You could also go for something more affordable,... Penfolds has some decent shiraz...
