Mine doesn't roll over, but I've already got three weeks a year I don't use. I didn't even use it all when I had 2 weeks. Starting in 2012 I get 5 weeks. I don't know what the fuck I'm going to do with it. I'd honestly rather take it on monetary form.Originally posted by BradMBut, just like condoms and women's rights, I don't believe in them.Originally posted by LeahIn other news: Brent's meat melts in your mouth.

I used all of mine this year so have none left. Last year I had 10 days to burn at the end of the year. Combing that with the holidays gave me a half a month off. It was nice. We are also on a use it or lose it policy. I get 15 days vacation and sick days/personal days are not counted for salaried employees.
I always have stuff to do and rarely get bored when not at work. Sometimes I wish I did have "boredom" time to just sit on the couch and watch TV. I occupy my off time with working on the car, working on the fourwheelers, riding the fourwheelers, yard/house work, doing some work on the farm, etc.
Ruffdaddy, if you are bored come out to our place and cut up some trees that have fallen. I can pay you with a good dinner and maybe let you ride the fourwheelers around haha.

I think some people are just nervous that their boss would think negatively of them. When you are really busy with projects and deadlines it can be hard to use your vacation. I am lucky and have a boss that never says no or makes people feel bad about using their vacation or needing a day off every now and then.Originally posted by talisman View PostLol. Why do you guys have such a hard time taking a vacation, or just a 3 or 4 day weekend here or there? Do your bosses give you a hard time or something? If so I'd tell them to get bent. You get PTO for a reason, and I'd bet dollars to pesos none of them have ever lost a day of vacation either.
He states that he feels everyone here is smart enough to know whether or not it is good for them to take vacation at a certain time with regards to planning around their projects.

I generally have 5 weeks of PTO every year, and 2.5 weeks of company paid holidays (which are ironically at the end of the year). Thats quite a bit of time off when there are a lot of new projects that we're trying to win currently. I would say the main thing preventing me from taking of is still myself however...being young I'm still in the "prove myself and change the world" Phase. I haven't yet been beaten down enough to realize I can just chill out and get the same results.Originally posted by talisman View PostLol. My Bosses rarely ask for me to give up time, but this year has been tough for the defense industry and it's not getting better. Proposals and development projects take up alot of effort on short notice, especially when you have a program you are over with regards to production support.
Dude I still haven't been out to your place! I may have to take you up on that offer when you're home lol. I don't want to be some city slicker out on your farm all alone. Do y'all ever shoot guns out there? I'm tired of spending $40/trip at the bullet trap.Originally posted by mustangguy289 View PostI used all of mine this year so have none left. Unfortunately the farm is owned by old people and they freak out when they hear a gun. It is also within city limits. I was talking the other day about killing some coyotes ( I see them everytime I ride the fourwheeler) and I thought my wife's great aunt was going to have a heart attack.Originally posted by Ruffdaddy View PostI generally have 5 weeks of PTO every year, and 2.5 weeks of company paid holidays (which are ironically at the end of the year). No shit. I hear people talk about this all the time, and I just can't wrap my head around it.Originally posted by talisman View PostLol. Why do you guys have such a hard time taking a vacation
They are willing to pay you to go do whatever you want to do. Wanna go skiing? Fuck it, go on Tuesday, they'll pay you! Hiking on Thursday?
Yup, you'll get paid to do that too. Hell, you could just sit on the couch and play with your dingdong all day and they'll still pay you.
I've never had unused vacation time and I can promise, without a doubt, that I never will.

We can "sell" up to 5 days at the beginning of the year and it is applied to your Health or daycar savings account ( which is also use or lose).Originally posted by SMKR View PostWe get a check cut for ours if unused
New policy I like starting jan 1 is we can buy up to 3 additional weeks of vacation if we want

For me personally, it's more a matter of the work that builds up while I am gone. My boss is great, and has no problem with me taking the time, but there is a reason that the company mandates no PTO the last two weeks of a quarter. Fortunately I am busy more than just those 8 weeks a year.Originally posted by Strychnine View PostNo shit. I hear people talk about this all the time, and I just can't wrap my head around it.

Yup, especially being that the fam likes to head down to Galveston in late June. We have scheduled around that mandate 3 times now.Originally posted by Strychnine View PostBoooo, that sucks.
Same for Christmas travel, but I fortunately can work from anywhere. This will be my first xmas home in 3 years.
