Take this job and...

I came home on Dec 9th and looks like I will be calling me boss on Tuesday and telling him to "take this job and shove it". 5 and a half years of contracting in Afghanistan has come to an end for me. Hopefully I will be starting my new job on or around the 9th of January.

So my Christmas gift to my wife this year is ME home for good. It will be a nice feeling when I miss my flight on Tuesday.

This is the only time of the year I get to brag a bit about vacation and my job. I took yesterday off (last day of vacation I had) and I don't go back til the 3rd... We're closed down the entire week of christmas-to-New Years, it's exclusive of our regular vacation allotment and company paid, to boot.

I worked from home last week, we were closed Friday, will be closed Monday, and again next Friday. I'm burning 3 days tue-thurs, and will return to work on the 2nd. Maybe the 3rd.

Taking the kids on a camping/Dirtbike trip, and going to Austin for a few days.

Off since Thursday noon, and don't go back until Jan 3. All paid, and I like this part of my job. Not traveling for Christmas just makes it even better.

I started working from home on Wed and will be working from home until the 3rd. I unfortunately have no holiday pay but our plant shuts down and I get to work from home. Easy stuff.

Enjoy it because it will be the last time for the next 30 years lol. I lucked out this year. The only way I got xmas off was they forgot to assign me one week of my vacation this year. Of course I didn't say shit till the last week of the year so they were forced to give me xmas off.
