    If there is a warrant with the same name, or a SOUNDEX hit, then the SSN is used to confirm or deny that it is the correct person.

    For all of you that would refuse to give it, you're just giving the officer a reason to haul you in and have you fingerprinted. All the while your car is towed.

    Just called the J.P. for Parker County and they want me to drive the Springtown to get the paper work for defensive driving. Is it outrageous or something for me to expect them to mail it to me? Springtown is like an hour away.

    That use to be a blank on our citations and we were just told to fill in the blanks by the brass. For thugs and felons that lie about who they are regularly it is a good way to get a criminal history and prove it is them. We raised hell and had them take it off our citations and I do not ask for it.

    Not sure if it's still done, but there are some states that would use a social security number as a DL number.
