I've thought about taking my Rhodesians out but I'm not really wanting them ripped up. Trapping them is easier and you don't incur vet bills or have to buy new dogs.Originally posted by Jwp View PostAnybody hog hunt with dogs? I'm addicted. Even got my own 70x70 bay pen out behind the house. I'm running two Texas blue lacy dogs for my find dogs/strike and my Argentina Dogo and Bull Terrier for my catch dogs.
That said, I know a couple guys that do and it does look to be fun.

The problem with letting people hunt hogs (or anything else) on your own property is that many hunters inflict as much or more property damage as the hogs do.
I'd love to have somebody come and trap hogs on our place near Canton, but the potential benefits are easily outweighed by the liabilities.

I've never hunted behind any Ridgebacks before but I've heard of a couple good ones. That's the difference between a working dog and a pet though mine have jobs to do and if they can't do it there ain't no point in feeding them can't get to attached but we've got a bond. I trap them as well as hunt them down with dogs and do bay competitions pretty often with my Lacy dogs. It's a heck of a rush I enjoy it and I know my dogs would not be satisfied or happy if they weren't out in them woods they'd probably destroy my house out of boredom. If you get an opportunity go for it just use somebody else dogs that's what I do for mountain lion hunts!Originally posted by mikec View PostI've thought about taking my Rhodesians out but I'm not really wanting them ripped up.
