I used to like cops ok, and then over time I stopped trusting them and disliked them more and more. When I started hanging out here with the constant barrage of FTP stories, it gave me more and more reason to say fuck the police. I can't remember the last time I heard of an officer, locally or nationally, doing something good, but hardly a day goes by I don't hear of some arrogant prick thinking he is above the law. Some of the cops on this forum don't help their case much either; seems like every time someone on here posts a story about seeing a cop doing something wrong, a forum cop posts links to legislation and saying "no, cops can do that see we don't follow the laws you do". And I used to want to be a cop years ago before I woke up and realized during the application process that I did not want to be part of an organization that is supposed to protect rights but thinks they are above them.I don't like Republicans, but I really FUCKING hate Democrats.

You don't notice headlights out during the daytime, and most fleet operations only work days. So, you might have to deadline the car until it can be fixed.Originally posted by talisman View PostThey'll replace the entire car just because a headlight is out? No wonder they need to write so many tickets.

You base your real-world opinions on posts in this forum, specifically the Back Porch?Originally posted by LANTIRN View PostI used to like cops ok, and then over time I stopped trusting them and disliked them more and more. This is what happens when you ignore the good and are consumed by the hatred.Originally posted by LANTIRN View PostI used to like cops ok, and then over time I stopped trusting them and disliked them more and more. We've already been in this situation once. I've proven what I say is true, now it's your turn to prove what you say is true. I'm not going to dig through the Texas statute to prove your point. Originally the burden of proof was on me to prove what I say, I have, now it's your turn to prove me wrong. And "nu-uh," which is essentially your response here, is not an acceptable rebuttal.Originally posted by 03trubluGT View PostThat just says that they have to be inspected and meet the same requirements. There are exemptions covered elsewhere in the Transportation Code, so keep digging.
Hardly a burn because it's incorrect.
The exemptions allow officers to work contrary with existing regulations to perform duties. How else would it be legal for officers to speed to catch speeders, run red lights in a pursuit, or block traffic on the freeway for an accident? Try doing these things in a personal vehicle and there will be consequences. I've seen posts about you guys bitching about police cars with limo tint, when we can't have that on our personal cars. How do you think the squad cars get inspected with limo tint? Becuase there is an exemption.
I'm not saying that it's allright to drive around with one headlight, because it isn't. That car should be deadlined and fixed. Same with any other light on the car. If the police are going to cite people for equipment, then theirs should work too.
And, like Evil Sean said, ignorance isn't an excuse. How many times have you heard "I didn't know that was against the law" and you still got somebody for it?
