It's just ploy to get more readers as it is a much better headline saying "Marine" instead of "Man".Originally posted by grove rat View Postsucks to be him...
but wtf does him being a marine have anything at all to do with the story? they put it in the title like he was in uniform or some shit. i'm not against the military or anything, hell i joined right after high school, i just see no reason to put that in the title

So if I can smoke weed legally in cali, and come to texas and get arrested for smoking weed even though I am a registered card holder. I'm pretty sure i'd get arrested/fined.Originally posted by mstng86 View PostI understand he was ignorant in not knowing the law. If a person willingly gives up their gun under the context they had no idea of the law, I don't see how they can really be prosecuted. They are willingly giving up the weapon and admitting they didn't know the law. It is one thing for security to discover the gun, it is another for an individual to alert security they have a gun.
This guy was ignorant of the law, regardless if he volunteered his gun over. It is a dumb law imo, but hey that's the law.

Not sure what you're saying here, but if you're comparing the laws on drugs to the laws on guns, it is apples to oranges. The laws on drugs are alot more defined than gun laws.Originally posted by roliath View PostSo if I can smoke weed legally in cali, and come to texas and get arrested for smoking weed even though I am a registered card holder. yea the guy was ignorant, and he deserves a punishment, but not prison IMO.

Unknowingly violating victimless statutes warrants punishment?Originally posted by mstng86 View PostNot sure what you're saying here, but if you're comparing the laws on drugs to the laws on guns, it is apples to oranges. The laws on drugs are alot more defined than gun laws.

I don't agree with someone getting 20 years by selling an ounce to a UC either.Originally posted by mstng86 View PostNot sure what you're saying here, but if you're comparing the laws on drugs to the laws on guns, it is apples to oranges. The laws on drugs are alot more defined than gun laws.

I thought so. I just think weed is illegal, everyone knows that, regardless if you are from California. The statutes on guns are alot more complicated, as CJ said.Originally posted by roliath View Post

Just fine the guy and move on. hell if we imprisoned every person who unknowingly broke a law, we would all be making these posts in prison.

The difference being there is a Federal law against marijuana, and the state law legalizes it. Whereas in this case there is a Federal law that legalizes it, and a state law that makes it illegal.Originally posted by roliath View PostSo if I can smoke weed legally in cali, and come to texas and get arrested for smoking weed even though I am a registered card holder.
