New car ideas

With my son due to be born any day now, I'd like to get a car with a back seat as I'm currently driving a regular cab S10. I'm looking for something sub$4k but sporty. I've been thinking SVT Focus or even a turbo civic. I want a reliable car so I will Probably avoid a SHO or SVT Contour. Ideas?
