Interesting. Did not know that was there. Thought it was a simple big property residence. Would of sucked to be one of those 200 lolOriginally posted by Strychnine View PostIt was a litte bigger than that. It blocked the only road in/out of Howell Family Farm which is used as a venue for weddings and other things. That night there was a charity event and 200+ people were stuck. APD ended up directing cars across a golf course or something at like 1am when they realized the train wouldnt be moved for a while.
Yeah I live over in that area. Didn't know about the USA MSports, but have always noticed the Stang up there.Originally posted by Redd View Postyea end of last year ago mored down off division where chicas locas was or the OLD usa motorsports shop with the red stang on the roof. looks like that entire track needs some looking at.

ARLINGTON, Texas - A freight train has derailed in Arlington, prompting building evacuations.
The incident happened in the 500 block of Front Street, near City Hall.
As many as 15 cars, including a tanker, have left the tracks, Arlington Fire Department Lt. Darren Whitfield said.
The tanker is leaking an unknown substance and as a precaution officials are evacuating nearby buildings, including the Dyno-Rock indoor climbing facility.
"Those cars can carry anything from milk to diesel fuel," Whitfield said.
It was not immediately clear what caused the derailment.
There were no reports of injuries.
Whitfield said he did not know how long it would take to clean up the mess.

I don't think it was that long ago, hell maybe it was but anyways it happened twice in a week, one freight train and one amtrack. The Amtrack was only the two engines and no cars, it was going to fast at that curve behind the GM plant and wnet off into that little car lot there. I drove by right after it happened just as the fire dept was getting there. There was dirt, rocks and all kinds of shit scattered across divison.Originally posted by pHILSANITY07 View PostWasn't there a Amtrak train or maybe a freight train that derailed like 15 years ago near the General Motors Plant?

Sorry, don't know jack about trains. Didn't realize that rails had a shelf life for damned sure!Originally posted by ram57ta View PostSeriously? This isn't a high speed passenger track thats highly maintained. Broken rail most likely...constant temp changes cause all kinds of havoc on railroad tracks due to constant expansion and contraction...rail fatigue is another common problem with old steel. We had to deal with this on an almost daily basis in Austin.
