I haven't noticed anyone closing up shop. Besides, the Gaylord can't dictate who has a shop in town and who doesn't. If that was the case then Great Wolf Lodge never would have been open and the two hotels next to Bass Pro Shop.Originally posted by Blackout View Postthat and now you have the gaylord over their dictating how everything is going to be. a lot of the auto mechanics on north west highway were shut down cause the gaylord didn't want their customers to see that on the bus ride to main.Originally posted by JesterEvery time you see the fucking guy....show him your fucking dick.. What a great idea! As a small business owner I think its a great way to get people in your doors that might not have stopped otherwise. I think I'll see if our Chamber will help organize something for our little town.
I'm like 3.5 hours from Dallas or I'd offer to join

I’m too slow for the fast cars and too fast for the slow cars.

The Rules
This might answer a few of your questions.
Mob Rules
Here are the rules we’ve developed for running cash mobs. THESE ARE JUST SUGGESTED RULES!!! Feel free to change them and let us know if your changes are better and why they work. We’re always interested in variations and suggestions!
1) The mob date must be announced at least a week in advance via Twitter.
2) The location at which to meet will be announced, but not the specific business to support.
3) The amount to spend will not be more than $20, although people can spend more if they wish.
4) The business must have products for both men and women.
5) The business must be locally owned.
6) The business owner must give back to the community in some way.
7) The business owner must approve the CashMob before the mob is announced.
8) The business must be within one block of a locally-owned watering hole.
9) Cash Mobbers must join us for celebratory drinks after the successful mob.
10) The cash mob will occur during the evening on a weekday or on a weekend.
11) Pictures will be posted to the blog after the CashMob.
12) Parking or public transportation must be available.
At the mob, there are three rules:
Spend $20;
Meet three people you didn’t know before;
HAVE FUN!!!

Cant say till the CM. Come out and check it out. We need people.Originally posted by Tyrone Biggums View PostHmm. I'm curious to know who the target is. I've worked in Grapevine for a local independently owned business for the last 13 years, so the idea hits close to home.
Will you be joining us on the 24th? If not, add us on Facebook or Twitter (located on first post) to keep up with the locations. Thanks for your interest.Originally posted by 8mpg View Postthis is a great idea. I will try and join in the future.
A small bit of extra income means a lot to any small business owner. Times are down, food costs are up, etc. My parents are not doing near what they used to.
Check out the rules on the post above. 2 part process really. Don’t your parents own a bed and breakfast in town? You should tell them to come out. You will be there right?Originally posted by motoman View PostDunno why it wouldn't be, they've been locally owned the entire time they've been open
Correct, I don’t make the rules, I just enforce them. Ha. We go to the restaurant after we CM the store. You would actually be pretty surprised as to the response I got from some of the people. I think so many business owners and people are so conditioned in their mind that everyone is out to get them and they aren’t interested in anything “new”. I made a 5 page handout that was very informative and specified what the mission statement was and the end goal for a CashMob. I had one person tell me that nothing in the business was under the $20 cash limit and they couldn’t lower the price. Let’s see, I had one person tell me to leave the papers and his wife would call me back. Still waiting on that. One lady accused me of conspiring with Groupon and inquired as to what the “catch” was. One I am not interested and who I worked for (I was still in my work clothes (my company polo and dress pants). Let’s say the wind got knocked out of my sails a bit. The last couple stores were really nice though.Originally posted by bcoop View PostWell, it wouldn't be, because the OP says it isn't by his phrasing. There are a ton of locally owned companies in Grapevine. It's part of the appeal of the town.
They had one in rhinestones for you. I had her put it to the side as I knew it was your color. All places must sell men/women products.Originally posted by Silverback View Postyou're all going to be buying lady's handbags, have fun

The only problem is not EVERYONE is in the Chamber. I did contact the local Chamber and they were helpful in providing or directing me towards the list on their website. Personally I didn’t want to disqualify someone just because they weren’t in the Chamber. Thanks for your support.Originally posted by halo/horns View PostWhat a great idea!
