Holy shite! $350??? I have never paid that much. I have had 1 dog and 1 cat put down in the past year @ $39 each if I took the animal with me afterward. DO NOT tell them if you are planning to bury the animal yourself, only that you are taking care of the arrangements.

Had to have the vet make a house call to put my dog down back in '04. We couldn't transport him to the vet due to what was wrong with him......they did it in the front yard of all places....sat with him from the time they administered the 1st shot to knock him down to the 2nd shot that ended his suffering.....shittiest day of my life.
had to take a cat to the vet because something serious was wrong with him, turned out he had that feline leukemia crap, had to put him down...that was 3 years ago...I still owe that vet $250. Decided to take him with us and bury him in the yard (out in the country)....walking out with the dead cat in a box = 2nd shittiest day of my life.....
so, yeah, they've got all sorts of options...."We, the people, are the rightful masters of both congress and the courts - not to overthrow the constitution, but to overthrow men who pervert the constitution." Abraham Lincoln

Yeah, I had to carry out my dog a couple of weeks ago. This particular vet had a back yard area and allowed me to pick him up from there. I hated to walk out of the place past all those people and kids with their pets.Originally posted by asphaltjunkie View PostHad to have the vet make a house call to put my dog down back in '04. Walking out with your animal sucks but man, imagine having to put down a healthy animal because the owner wants too...I can only imagineOriginally posted by line-em-up View PostMy wife works at a vet. People bring their animals in all of the time, wanting them to be put down. If the animal is healthy, the vets try their best to let them adopt them out, but it's ultimitely up to what the pet owner wants to do.Originally posted by Sean88gtYou can take white off the list. As much as I would like to say yea I would save the money and do it myself, I'm not sure if I could actually shoot my current dog. The more I think I about it the more I realize I wouldn't be able to pull the trigger. Luckily she is only 3 or so, hope she has many years before I have to make this kind of decision.Originally posted by Downs View Post.22LR to the brain pan old yeller style will do the trick.
If they want it to be "humane" find out if the city or county shelter will do it for free.

They usually require a donation of some sort, if it's not adoptable, and they may black list a person from adopting from the shelter in the future.Originally posted by Downs View Post.22LR to the brain pan old yeller style will do the trick.

When its truly necessary, you will be able do it. It sucks to see a loved pet go through some of the things old age brings. Screw paying a ton of money to have someon else take care of your business. It seems like that would feel worse.Originally posted by GrayStangGT View PostAs much as I would like to say yea I would save the money and do it myself, I'm not sure if I could actually shoot my current dog.
