When I was in my late teens I had an ingrown toenail. It sucked. I like to think I am pretty good at managing pain but that fucking thing was torture. I had it for almost 2 years and felt it every single day. The slightest little tap to my toe would send me to the floor. I went to the doctor a few times to cut my toenail down the middle. That didn't work, it just grew back. I was told I needed to have it completely removed. I was too poor at the time to get it "fixed" so I just dealt with it. I used to soak my foot and have to cut it back myself, but usually always made it worse. Then one day it was gone. I used to take the nail that I cut out and measured how much was in my skin and it was near an 1/8".

I didn't want to get to detailed but I had puss build up quite frequently. I had to maintain it daily. If I didn't the puss would sort of "scab" up and dry itself to my sock. Then when I took my sock off id have to surgically remove that shit. I am getting chills thinking about it...

Yeah, I had/have the same shit. I almost drowned myself at Hurricane Harbor when some dumb ass kid that was wearing sandals in the wave pool kicked my toe head on. I still get them on occasion, but I use the wadded up cotton trick. That and I take the edge of a knife and scrape a bunch of nail off the top.

i had to have surgery on both of my big toenails, this is what they did to mine



after cutting and removing the sides of the nail they put some liquid soaked q-tips at the base of my toe for a few minutes. the dr said it's a chemical that kills the exposed root and it should not ever grow back there. so far so good

they took about 1/8 of an inch off both sides, you have no idea how much better it is now. i got the first surgery when i was in jr high, and the other when i was a senior in high school

if anyone here has tender or sore toenails and you think it might be cause of an ingrown toenail. tell them you want this done and you should not have any problems after

It is an acid that burns the nail bed so it won't regrow, I forget the name of it.

this reminds me of the time my cousin thought i was ''acting like a baby'' and that my toe didn't really hurt that bad

we were at his house just hanging out(summertime) and after saying something about my toe hurting he reached over with his foot and tapped my shoe, right on the big toe. i instantly felt the pain surging and i knew i was gonna hit the floor cause it was so bad. i was standing and all in one motion i reached/jumped down to grab my hurt toe and with the other foot swiftly kicked him right in the stomach! as i was laying there on the floor holding my foot i looked over at my cousin who was also laid out on the floor holding his stomach. i said ''i told you i wasn't lying!''. after that he stayed clear of my foot. lol

I take care of my feet, scrubbing and what-not. I cut them just a tad bit rounded, nothing too serious, and have never had any problems.

Someone that has never had one just doesn't get it. I consider myself to be pretty damn tough, but any time my infected toe even got slightly bumped I was on the ground with tears in my eyes. I would take a swift kick to the nuts before a gentle tap on an infected toenail.

I played soccer as a kid, and it seems I had at least one ingrown toenail every year. When I stopped playing, I stopped getting ingrown toenails.

I did lose my toenail on my big toe last summer, and it feels like it grew back ingrown. Guess I need to go see a doc.

I had them as a kid up until high school. One Big toe is killed on the sides and the other if i felt any pain i would take a pair of scissors and cut down the side and yank that fucker out.

Worst pain ever is dropping something on a ingrown big toe. It makes you want to puke.

There was something wrong with that dudes toenail to begin with. Sucker came off way too easy and didn't even bleed. Try that shit with a healthy and infected toenail and see how far you get.
