I put my seatbelt on every time without even realizing I'm doing it. It's just automatic. I never understood the reasoning behind not putting it on. It's quick and simple, and will save your life and help keep you from getting pulled over. It's just ignorant not to wear one.

Ditto. Everyone knows the laws before they even get in the car. Like them or not, you're obligated to abide.Originally posted by jluv View PostI put my seatbelt on every time without even realizing I'm doing it. It's just automatic. I don't think that's the arguing point. I agree that *generally* seat belts are very beneficial, but if I don't want to wear mine I shouldn't be forced to. But rarely will you catch me without one.Originally posted by jluv View PostI put my seatbelt on every time without even realizing I'm doing it. It's just automatic. I agree, it is. So is a law forcing people above the age of 21 to wear them.Originally posted by jluv View PostI put my seatbelt on every time without even realizing I'm doing it. Yeah, what I was getting at earlier was that there are really two seperate discussions. Should you wear your seatbelt, and should there be a seatbelt law. I believe everyone shoudl wear their seatbelt but I do not think it is something that should be legislated.

That is true, but I can still think that that law is wrong. Hell I can go roller skating down an icy street with no helmet and razor blades taped to my face with no problem, but I cant drive 40 feet to my neighbors house without owing the government money?Originally posted by Denny View PostDitto. So you're driving on a Texas public roadway that is under enforcement by Texas poilice officers that uphold the Texas laws that you acknowledged when you got your Texas driver's license?Originally posted by Jimbo View PostThat is true, but I can still think that that law is wrong. I've been saying this shit for years.....the seatbelt "law" is rediculous. If you don't want to wear a device that could potentially save your fucking life in the event of a car crash....and you have one...and end up dying because you didn't have it on....we didn't need you, thank you for playing."We, the people, are the rightful masters of both congress and the courts - not to overthrow the constitution, but to overthrow men who pervert the constitution." Abraham Lincoln

Your point? Is it that I cannot disagree with a law because it is a law? Is this China now?Originally posted by Denny View PostSo you're driving on a Texas public roadway that is under enforcement by Texas poilice officers that uphold the Texas laws that you acknowledged when you got your Texas driver's license?

I'm not sure you get the point we're trying to make. Is it a law, yes. Do we have to abide by it, yes. Should I be required by law to protect myself from.... Myself, no. Underage seatbelt laws I completely agree with, children don't have the ability to make those kinds of choices and weigh all the pros and cons. Adults can, therefore shouldn't be subject to nanny laws such as this. Again, it's a law and we have to abide, but it shouldn't have been a law in the first place.Originally posted by Denny View PostSo you're driving on a Texas public roadway that is under enforcement by Texas poilice officers that uphold the Texas laws that you acknowledged when you got your Texas driver's license?

Exactly, we need to thin the herd, I disagree with suicide being illegal as well.Originally posted by asphaltjunkie View PostI've been saying this shit for years.....the seatbelt "law" is rediculous.
