Got in a minor fender bender on the way home from work....how to proceed?

It's probably so that someone doesnt get into a wreck and have the other person's ins pay for the repairs and then turn around and file on his ins and keep the money from the other ins company.

lol. It happens aaaalll the time. Then one of the carriers is left stuck having to file a civil suit to get their money back, which rarely happens.

You are also required to call your insurance as well. I didnt know this either until I totaled my cobra last year.

Is that under the "your duties after a loss occurs" section of your policy? Technically it's everyone's duty after a loss to report it but you are under no legal obligation to notify your company about a fucking thing.

Never said you had to file a claim. Just that you have to let them know about the accident.

Reporting an incident is letting them know something happened, and what date it happened on. Just because nothing is paid doesn't mean the wreck won't affect you. If you hit a tree, even when nothing is paid out, you still it a tree so they still charge you accordingly.

Doesn't seem to be any mechanical damage since it's driving fine. I think it'll just need a new fender, maybe front bumper, and touch up on the wheel. Seems there is always more damage than you think so there will probably be more though.

I go to Progressive's claim estimate place on Tuesday. Once I have an estimate it'll go to my dad's dealership to get fixed up.

Hell you can tell them where you wanna take it, and they can setup payment directly to the shop if you want them to. Don't forget to ask for a rental car so that can get that authorized in advance. That way when you go drop off the car, they can pick you up from the shop and put you into a rental right away

I actually thought the insurance companies sent adjusters to you to estimate the damage. I had to schedule an appointment to go to their collision place in Lewisville and the first time that was convenient for me with work was Tuesday afternoon. Oh well.
