A lot of these tragic situations come about, IMHO, when they, meaning all those "professionals" started bitching about spanking and child punishment . If you swatted/spanked your kid for misbehaving , your a child abuser.. As a kid of the 50's/60's, I knew if I screwed up, both mom and dad would tattoo my ass big time. If I caused problems in school, I would not only get spanked in school, you better believe I got pounded worse at home. A 3 inch wide Sam Brown belt hurts like hell!!! Didn't take too damn long to get the message!!!
Some parents should never have had kids, and their offsprings usually show it, but others have been good parents and still have a kid go off the deep end.. You just never know....

We were still getting wore out in the 80s/90s - but I'm not thinking I'll be quite as able to raise my kids the way I was raised. I'm going to try it, but the freedom to raise your kids has been hampered too. (Which is what you said - and I'm agreeing)
