This..Originally posted by GSXRK5 View PostHe's a car salesman. What did you expect. They'll sell their own mother if they have to.
But in fairness, that salesman might not have had any control over the sale of that car. However, assuming you gave him your phone number, he should have called you the moment it was sold.

I think this is their new ploy. We just bought a new car and ran into this 3-4 times. One time at the nissan in grapevine they had 4 FOUR in stock and when I got there an hour and a half later they were all sold. I just walked out and will never go back there. its a scam to get you in the door. trophy nissan did the same thing to me.

Something salesman don't have. That little voice in their head that tells them what they're doing is morally wrong. But you are right they could have called but they just wanted you in the door.Originally posted by 78X View Postyes, give me the courtesy of a phone call.

You should have spoken to the GM of the dealership. Or at least got his contact info and sent him an email or even a written letter. That salesman was discourteous and so eager to make a sale, he chose to disregard what you had planned to do. On the other hand, I'm sure this happens to car salesman more often than not. And without making a deposit, they are not bonded in anyway to hold the car for you based on verbal communications. If someone walks on to the lot a few hours before you do eyeballing the same car, the salesman is going to make the sale and get his/her commission.Last edited by LS1Goat; 12-18-2010, 09:52 AM.

Yup...give me the sure sale and paycheck vs some guy that says he is on his way. I am sure they hear that all the time.Originally posted by Mustangman_2000 View PostYou should have spoken to the GM of the dealership. Most GMs are the exact same way as salesmen. They will just tell the customer something to make him happy then tell the salesman good job. Keep it up. We got the customer in the door and now he thinks we owe him something. We'll try and sell him a car. All about the sale and $$$ that can be made.Originally posted by Mustangman_2000 View PostYou should have spoken to the GM of the dealership. This happened to me. I was looking at a truck and told the salesman I was going to keep looking. The next night he calls and says the truck sold, but they had some new trucks. I drive up, and that truck was right there on the front line. Needless to say I was not happy. Having to lie to get me back to the dealership really pissed me off.

I can see that. However, I think it might raise an eyebrow if the GM felt like he lost a potential buyer that is now disgruntled for being jerked around by one of his employees. Might not do much good, but certainly couldn't hurt. Then again, like I said above. No deposit = they are not obligated to hold the car.Originally posted by GSXRK5 View PostMost GMs are the exact same way as salesmen.
