I had some smoked bologna down at the Lockhart Smokehouse in the Bishop Art District. It's not something I would pay for but they were giving away small chunks for free to get an idea if people liked it or not. It was just ok. Better than regular bologna on bread but I can't see a reason to ever order any or make it myself.

I saw the preview of the thread and thought someone had found a new strand of potOriginally posted by SSMAN View PostBeen mulling over smoking one for a while. Not a big fan of bologna, but I hear it is good. It will be a side dish to my mesquite grilled shrimp with jack cheese, jalapeno and wrapped with bacon.
I have the bologna rubbed down with a dry rub tonight and will smoke it Saturday.
Who has done this? Is it worth it? ( not that it matters now)I wear a Fez. Fez-es are cool

I dont eat bologna, but a while back we took Jr to the animal drive thru job in Glen rose. Several of the fam on here suggested a BBQ joint to stop at for lunch. They had smoked bologna, I still hated it, but Jr damn near ate his weight in stuff. I hope the party goes well Barry.

The Hell! What's the name of this joint? I spend most of my time in Bluffdale and thought I knew all the restaurants in the area.Originally posted by ELVIS View PostI dont eat bologna, but a while back we took Jr to the animal drive thru job in Glen rose. Thanks Paul, I use to like it as a kid. But only fried in a pan to make a sammich out of. Don't care too much for it now days. But I figure if Jack In the Box taco's are good at 2:00 am while snot slinging drunk. Maybe smoke baloney will be good too.Originally posted by ELVIS View PostI dont eat bologna, but a while back we took Jr to the animal drive thru job in Glen rose. SSMAN, please post up some details. Never thought about it, but sitting here 5 minutes thinking about it - sounds like it would be good.
I use hickory as well, so curiosity has me. Personally, I'd avoid a salt based rub in a product like that. Peppery would be good.Originally posted by MR EDDU defend him who use's racial slurs like hes drinking water.

I am using Willingham's dry rub. It's off the beaten path of most your rubs. That and I like the shit out of it.Originally posted by ceyko View PostSSMAN, please post up some details. Never thought about it, but sitting here 5 minutes thinking about it - sounds like it would be good.

I may have made a mistake by not getting all beef bologna. But Wally World did not have any. How I am doing it is posted somewhere above.

Ok, a couple of you requested an update on the baloney. I have to admit it's not my favorite food by all means. But damn, everyone ended up liking it. Including myself. Definitely different and makes for good drunk munchy food. (served at pool party)
