My first brand new vehicle was a Nissan hardbody. I literally beat the shit out of that thing and it refused to die. It's a good car. I live 1200 miles from "home" now and I want something that's not 13 years old. Yes it's a Toyota but at that age shit fails regardless of brand name. I bought it off my grandma and it's got a few dents and dings. I don't blame you for being slightly worried, but just for some perspective: I just drove my 99 GT with 130k around 2200 miles on a roadtrip 2 weeks ago. Cars these days last 200k easy if they are maintained.

I love the Nissan haters that have never owned one. Bought my wife a brand new, loaded out one in 08 and it has been a fantastic car. We take it on trips all the time and zero issues. Car was 18k total with fosgate system, sunroof, bluetooth, etc. Car gets on the highway just fine and I love the variable transmission. Gas mileage is always around 33 in town and higher on the highway. We have had zero issues with that car and it has over 65k on it. She came from a fully loaded 38k equinox that was the most uncomfortable, unreliable, POS I have ever owned. No its not a Lexus but the price is right and Nissan has been very good to us. Very worth it to get a deal on extended warranty also. Free oil change every three months with semi synthetic and it was only like 15 a month extra and put my warranty at 75k bumper to bumper, roadside, and 200k on the tranny. Only rattle we have picked up is from the back window getting shattered. The window place did not put the back panel back on it right. Her next car will be a Rogue, Murano or Juke turbo. Cheap enough to pay off in a year and a half and not be married to a car payment.Whos your Daddy?

Honestly, Toyota Yaris 4 door. We had one for a rent car, It was getting around 40 mpg, and it would fucking fly down the freeway. I was very impressed with it, and I am not a foreign made car fan.2005 M3 Vert with TSW rims

Had a '01 Maxima that we bought in '03 with 50K miles on it. Hugest pile of shit I've ever owned. I mean the LeBaron I had years prior was more reliable. First it was a DTC 420 code that was allegedly a bug that needed to be programmed out. Then when that didn't work Nissan wanted almost 2K for an entirely new pre-cat exhaust which said that would fix the problem, however many who've owned them had problems afterwards. Then it was some intake butterfly valve bullshit that broke. Then a seal on an axle kept going out. I thought it was me not installing the seals right. No, it was a bearing, and the only way to get to it was to tear the trans apart. By that time it cost more than the vehicle was probably worth. Keep and maintain the Camry. As for Nissans, they are fine too. I bought a 89 Maxima with 115k miles. Drove it to 289k. If he first owner had tightened the harmonic balancer correctly on the first timing belt change, it'd likely still be going today.

First 2 are common problems with the 00/01s. First is solved by replacing the front or rear pre cat (aftermarket front is like 150, rear can be solved by aftermarket y pipe that eliminates the pre cat). If the second issue is the one I'm thinking of, you can just rig it to where the intake stays open the whole time. My current maxima (bought at 78k) has 136k on it. I've replaced alternator, tires, coil packs (common problem), front pre cat (common problem) and brakes in the 5 years I've owned it. Hasn't left me stranded and is a great commuter car. Wouldn't buy another Nissan though and glad I didn't buy the g35 I wanted awhile back before knowing about all the oil consumption issues with the 3.5s

This was for my wife to drive. It was to be a reliable car. The fact that I had to work on it more than my junkass f-body screams TURD. I read all about the alleged fixes available for the exhaust, but I read a slew of those who said the exhaust they bought did not work. Since this was the mid 2000's, I didn't see anywhere were pre-cat aftermarket exhaust was available. Maybe headers were at that point, but I was interested in not having to pay someone under the table to get it to pass e-check. I fixed the butterfly valve crap, but really, I should not have to do any of this on a 3 year old car. I got 02 sims that lasted for six months. Oh yeah, the alternator. I was in a hurry to go pick up my wife from the airport and of course that pile of shit decides to go. Fortunately I was 1/2mi from the house.
