FRS demo drive event

For all of you peckerwoods on the fence about this car. Here's your chance to come and beat on one.

I registered for Saturday Aug 4th 11am-noon drive time.

me and a bunch of buddies are signing up for the 1-2pm time. Hope all these cars aren't broke by then hahahaha

Can someone explain to me the benefits of a boxer engine exactly? I know they have a lower center of gravity, but what actual performance gains does this cylinder configuration have? I thought they had better low end, but really who the hell cares in a 4 cylinder.

The weight, the sound (negative to someone who doesn't like the sound), and that's really it with the skimpy 2.0 four. In the flat 6 boxers, the low end is the main selling point.

Their is no special "sound" with the FR-S/BRZ engine, it has equal length headers. No subbie wrx rumble FTL!

Not a fan of boxster engines, really wished the car came with a high revving engine like the yamaha 2zz-ge engine of old or something like a honda k20.

I know you touched on it, but i really do think the low center of gravity -is- the main selling point of the design.

If I had one, it would. Boxer engines sound different from inline or v engines regardless of exhaust, it's just really subtle. I love it, but then again I'm weird and also like the sound of a high-winding rotary as well

I bet these little sewing machines can handle some abuse. Just to be on the safe side I want first dibs. I pray they dont have remote kill switches, I intend on whipping it around a few times before they kick me out.

I dont know, but they are getting 500rwhp and running 11.30's @ 127 with stock internals. Pretty bad ass 4 banger if you ask me....

Are you talking about the turbo Sti motors or the new BRZ/FRS engine? If the 2.0L NA 200hp 4 banger can handle 500hp on stock internals, I'll be damn impressed.

The 2.0 is laying down some amazing numbers. Google turbo frs, there is a vid of one running 11.3 @ 127 plus all kinds of dyno's

They reviewed the fr-s on a podcast I'm subscribed to and they were talking about how weak the stock internal are on the boxter engines. Pretty much anything over 300hp and you're asking for trouble. then again, who would you believe...car guys or internet videos?
