There was a Hardee's on 287 in Childress a long time ago, before Chick-fil-A and Krispy Kreme came to Texas. I never saw another one in the state though.

There was one on 303 on the north side of the Forum Mall. I think it closed in either '85 or '86 and became a Denny's. I remember eating there once, maybe twice.

exactly why i said the closest to Dallas would be San Diego or Indiana depending on which direction you went.

Does anyone (have to be an old fart) remember the Pig Stand Drive Inns in and around Dallas? I don't remember much about their sandwiches, but they had the best thick malts around. The one I remember was down near White Rock Lake at Garland Road and Gaston.
The last Pig Stand I saw was in San Antonio in the 1980's.

.....and then there was Clown Hamburgers in (Haltom City?)

Another similar to Kips was Sambo's. Hmm, I wonder why they aren't still around.

I ate at a Kips in Detroit a couple of years ago near Belle Isle.

Like a blizzard in Georgia or a train runnin' late
I call out your name girl in the heat of the night
And nobody answers 'cause somethin' ain't right

    Breakfast at Shoney's at $2.99
Saved me some money and eased up my mind
I'm walkin' in circles and feelin' the pain
I'm tossin' and turnin' and cryin' in vain

I'm ridin' at midnight and crossin' the line
From the rain in my windshield and the tears in my eyes
Now the bedroom is empty and I spent my last dime
And the lovers are leavin', I got nothin' but time,
I got you on my mind

Yep, on Bedford Euless Rd, right where it split off from Grapevine Hwy. I remember that one well.

The last "Big Boy" restaurant I ate ate was in Barstow, CA. That was about 5 years ago. Still delicious.
