these guys driving trucks with a freezer on the back? I'm curious how that business works. I'm not interested in a job, just more like, what's the quality of chicken/steak/seafood I'm buying. It kinda seems like a good deal at times.

So, anyone else ever buy from them?

neither, these would be the smaller time guys...I think this last one was Grill Masters Meat Co. I used another before (over year ago) but I can't remember their name.

Although I have bought from Schwann's before...a little pricey but good stuff.

No complaints with the Omaha stuff, but i've seen others that are selling the same kind of filets that walmart sells (like 20% liquid filler). The local meat truck guys up here offer a 'warranty' on their product, will come swap you out a box of whatever for anything else if you're unhappy. I tried to make a deal last time, but the sales guys double-talk turned me off to the idea. I didn't need 50+ lbs of meat crowding up my freezer at any one time, anyways.

As a general rule I refuse to purchase anything from someone who comes to my door to sell it to me. I probably get these pickup truck meat sales guys once every few months, it just astonishes me that people would actually buy meat from some random guy that rings their doorbell.

Around here they always have the same story. "Hello sir, Do you like steaks?" Yes. "Well I was in the area making deliveries and I've got some steaks I have to get rid of before I head back to _______, I can cut you a heck of a deal."

I bought 1 pack of sirloins from grillmasters and they were the worst steaks I have ever.

They say that they will WARRANTY the meat after you buy it. If you accidently leave it out of the fridge too long before cooking it, they will take it back.

I thought they were full of shit when they told me this so i refused to buy.

gave me some BS story on how they needed $20 for gas and that they were giving me $50 worth of meat.

Hines57 usually has the best deals out there since his stuff comes straight from the packing house. He posts the nonprofit for sale items in the food section. I've probably bought 200 pounds of ribeye and loin primals from him and they have all been top grade.

It works like this. They buy the cheapest meat possible and sell it for as much money as possible.

That's an ingeneous way to get rid of a dead body. Hack it up and sell it out of the back of your pickup truck as Grade A Chuck (no pun intended).
