My mom passed away and left me her car. I've been to probate court and have all the documents naming me as executor of her will. I need to sell the car to pay some debts. I have a buyer but his credit union is insistent that the car be titled in my name before they will touch it. Can you get a new title same day at one of the Regional Service Centers?

Only if the title is in your name first. To transfer it there is no faster way. Takes about two weeks to get it back now days.Originally posted by 4eyedwillie View PostYes you can get the title the same day from one of the reginal centers. There was a thread about it about 6 weeks ago thattalked about which ones are open now.Whos your Daddy?

I don't believe that's accurate. It's my responsibility to take possession of all property belonging to the deceased. The court doesn't ratify or approve my actions. This is Travis county - your county may be different.Originally posted by Baron View Postif it is in probate, you have to wait for the judge to sign off before you can sell it or transfer the title.

This is true. I didnt think about him being executor.Originally posted by mardyn View PostBS, if your the executor for her Estate, you can sell the car... putting it in your name just to sell it is not necessary.

If the title is just missing and you have a copy of her DL and the executor paperwork, you can just go get one printed off on the spot.Whos your Daddy?

Wouldn't probate infer there wasn't a will for him to be an executor of?Originally posted by mardyn View PostBS, if your the executor for her Estate, you can sell the car... putting it in your name just to sell it is not necessary.
