Basically just said it as plain as day. "we can't lose a fight with a gun on our hip. Because if we do, it gets used on us." So when you try to fight the police, you get shot. Sounds like it is pretty straight forward to me!

Well Chief Brown just set his department up for a lot more problems. They really need to find a spokesman.

that was my initial thought too but after the description of the pursuit the officers was in fear of loosing his life so I'd say its justified.

of course no one in that area will see it that way... all they heard was " he was not armed"

I give props to Chief Brown for making sure we all understand the facts...even "dumbing-it-down" as to why/how things went down. It never occurred to me how much they need to protect their gun/fight with one arm basically.
