I see the worst in people these last few weeks, not in their actions per se, but in their expectations.

Evidently, being single means that you instantly get zero time off and have to cover for everyone else who has "important family things to do". Fuck you...i have important things to do as well. But obviously my time is less valuable than your time. Well see in a few months how that feels when the tables are turned and MY time is more important than Your time.

I really dont like either Thanksgiving or Christmas. I'm not religous and the majority of my family outside of my mom and a couple of cousins have all passed away. My christmas & thanksgiving is a dinner out with my mom and a movie. Pretty much indistinguishable from any other day of the year. Only main difference is everyning is fucking losed so there is nothing to do except sit around and listen to all the materialistic bullshit going on around me. Theres nothing about this time of year that is enjoyable, so why get worked up about it? Christmas carols are like nails on a chalkboard to me and I've worn out the mute button everytime a hyped up " oh you must love me a lot since you bought something expensive" commercial comes on.

I am so looking forward to dec 26th when the bullshit stops and i can stop being reminded at every single turn that everyone else is so much happier than i am.

    Suck it.
I feel you man. I can't stand this time of year. Everyone is in a shopping frenzy just to keep up with the Jones'. The time of year should be about cherishing those who you hold dear to your hearts. My family is almost non-existent, so the part of the holidays that I feel everyone should embrace is completely lost on me.

I've finally just decided to quit faking it and let people consider me a giant dick if they want to. But deep down they're thankful that they don't have to spend any money on some shit they know is just going to be shelved and eventually thrown away.

we can break bread, have some drinks, enjoy each others company, and if meaningful gifts are exchanged, fine, but if I want/need something, I'll get it for myself, and I'm thankful that I can

I'm the same way. I don't want any trinkety bullshit gifts please, and don't expect any from me

Werd. I also love Thanksgiving and hate Christmas. All the parties and seeing friends is nice though.

It's all about family for me. My house is full of my family and all our dogs. First Xmas for my first grand-daughter was here at my house this morning. I'll never forget it.

Without family or a "reason for the season", I would be a prick like Jedi.

i am only 25 but like others have said i can see the difference between christmas time now and say 10 years ago. of course i know i was only 15 but i still had eyes and saw how shit was. growing up pretty much poor i never got huge lavish gifts, but that never bothered me because i was just happy on getting whatever i got. to be honest i had more fun just hanging out with the family all day without anyone having to go to work or school, it was a day where we just hung out all day and i loved it

i used to look forward to thanksgiving and christmas because i had so much fun just hanging out with family. now i still enjoy thanksgiving but pretty much get like jedi when it comes to christmas, and that is due to everyone worrying about buying and receiving gifts

Jedi, you should try celebrating Festivus next year. I think you and your family would probably enjoy the change.

I don't believe in spending a wad of cash on stuff that people don't give 2 shits about come new years. I buy a few select items that my parents and girlfriend can enjoy and use. Late last night my girlfriend started crying because this is her first Christmas away from any kind of family and, for once I had to not be an asshole. You still have your mom around, you should be thankful for things you may be taking for granted.

Sorry to hear you don't find anything enjoyable about the season.

Thanksgiving and Christmas always has and always will be a very special time for me.
