Truck Burned/Cleaning question

Ford won't do it directly. Their insurance will cover it one way or another... they'll send out a rep to inspect the vehicle since that recall is known to cause fires. In short, if it's a known recall for something like that, they will pay to have the truck repaired and/or replaced.Originally posted by 2011GT View PostI doubt Ford will do a thing.Originally posted by PGreenCobraI can't get over the fact that you get to go live the rest of your life, knowing that someone made a Halloween costume out of you. lol no they won't. I had one where a car caught fire for the same problem, burned the Ford, the Corvette next to it, and the Triumph also in the garage. And then did $60,000 in damage to the house. It almost went to litigation because everyone was pointing the finger at each other. We had our Origin and Cause guy, an electrical engineer, and Ford's design engineers involved. And Ford was only offering to cover 50% of everyone's damages when they pretty much knew it was the cruise control deactivation switch that caused the problem. And the worst part was that it wasn't a valuation dispute, they just gave everyone the middle finger because they knew we weren't going to litigate the matter. So in short, if this truck has already been sold/disposed of, the OP might be SOL.Originally posted by DON SVO View PostFord won't do it directly. Perhaps it is different when Ford works on the car.Originally posted by GE View Postlol no they won't. When I was at Duncanville, we had an Escort burn to the ground on us due to the evap box leaking condensation onto the LCM. It melted the wiring together and shorted, lit up like a christmas tree. We had 3 techs pushing it, one working the wheel and I was on the passenger side with a fire extinguisher spraying under the dash trying to put it out. Ford bought her a new car since it was perfectly clear how the fire started.Originally posted by PGreenCobraI can't get over the fact that you get to go live the rest of your life, knowing that someone made a Halloween costume out of you. That probably went under the garage keepers insurance policy because the Ford dealership had care/custody/control of the vehicle when it caught fire.Originally posted by DON SVO View PostPerhaps it is different when Ford works on the car.

If the recall was issued and the owner didn't get it taken care of why should Ford be responsible?Originally posted by DON SVO View PostFord won't do it directly. I spoke to an attorney...case has been filed with Ford. They contacted me the same day and told me they would contact me with in 5 days on what ford will be doing about the issue. So we will see.Originally posted by Da PrezFuck dfwstangs!! If Jose ain't running it, I won't even bother going back to it, just my two cents!!Originally posted by VETTKLR

Exactly. In my case, our customer had actually taken it in for the recall and Ford said there wasn't a problem and Ford declined to do the repairs. And then... boom bitch!Originally posted by 2011GT View PostIf the recall was issued and the owner didn't get it taken care of why should Ford be responsible?

I never got a letter of recall which Ford is responsible of sending me when truck is sold to a new owner.Originally posted by 2011GT View PostIf the recall was issued and the owner didn't get it taken care of why should Ford be responsible?Originally posted by Da PrezFuck dfwstangs!! It was an active recall that had yet to be performed. Most of the recalls we did on those, when the customer brought it in, were performed after the damage was done. Usually it just shorted out the LCM and we replaced it. Most of the ones we repairedprior to messing stuff up were found during oil changes, the service writer would explain we were going to do it and it wouldn't take long (I could do them in ~10 minutes). People are lazy.Originally posted by 2011GT View PostIf the recall was issued and the owner didn't get it taken care of why should Ford be responsible?Originally posted by PGreenCobraI can't get over the fact that you get to go live the rest of your life, knowing that someone made a Halloween costume out of you. Out of all the used cars I have bought I never received a recall notice. I'm not calling you out our anything I just wouldn't get upset if Ford told me to get bent.Originally posted by Juiced4v View PostI never got a letter of recall which Ford is responsible of sending me when truck is sold to a new owner.

I've received other recalls on used cars I've purchased, but who knows its worth a try. The ford rep told me not to involve an attorney yet that they would rather deal with me directly.Originally posted by 2011GT View PostOut of all the used cars I have bought I never received a recall notice. Ford is responsible for keeping track of that information. That's part of the safety recall procedure.Originally posted by 2011GT View PostOut of all the used cars I have bought I never received a recall notice. Manufacturers are obligated to attempt to notify owners of recalled products. For vehicles, that means manufacturers merge their own records of vehicle purchasers with current state vehicle registration information.
