I'm not sure what I'll do for the 10-15 years I'll be retired after the normal 65 (assuming typical life expectancy), what are you going to do for 30 years?
20% minimum, 25% gets a better rate. For those planning to buy your first investment property remember you have to qualify for the full payment, you can't use rental income to offset it (even if it's rented, you must have a two year history of rental income on your tax returns).Originally posted by 95ragtop View PostI was told the same 30% down on investment property, has anyone heard something different?

Who or why would you do that?Originally posted by slow99 View PostSo my question would be: how much could you enjoy life on a $5k annual budget?
Oh and chooooo$$$$$$ chooooo$$$$$$$$
The monthly difference he would get from his "rental" isn't the only means of income or liquid cash he has available when he retires...Originally posted by Cmarsh93zDon't Fuck with DFWmustangs...the most powerfull gang I have ever been a member of.

Read his sentence in post 1 describing the ere process. Substitute "you" in the sentence of mine you quoted with "a person".Originally posted by 347Mike View PostWho or why would you do that?

Most people I talk to have nothing but good things to say about you, but you sure come across as a condescending prick. Do you have an inferiority complex you've attempted to overcome through overachievement? Or were you fondled as a child?
You and slow99 should date. You both have passive aggressiveness down pat.

Who said anything about a 5k annual budget? Im looking at 20k-30k per year. I can do plenty with that.Originally posted by slow99 View PostSo my question would be: how much could you enjoy life on a $5k annual budget?

Isee where i wasnt very specific in my first post. 2-3 of assets invested to keep principal intact. Rental income would be main source.
1800-2500/mo
Frost, Ive thought about military. That woul help me saving, seeing as how expenses would be minimal. I need to lose weight, and id prefer to finish my degree so i could go in as an officer. I dont know how much pension would be, though.Last edited by sc281; 08-22-2012, 04:07 PM.

Ugggh, I'll clarify when I'm not stuck posting from my phone. The 2 sentences with numbers where you lay out the premise. Then forget that my quote said "you - sc281" and think "the average person".Originally posted by sc281 View PostThat post was only addressing my current house and whether to rent it out or sell it.
I sure as hell wouldnt be living on that alone.Originally posted by davbrucasI want to like Slow99 since people I know say he's a good guy, but just about everything he posts is condescending and passive aggressive.

As far as how one would like a 5k annual budget, i guess it depends on what lifestyle on is comfortable living. Most would think its sucks out loud i suppose.
Im getting my budget down to a 1500/mo budget, including $350/mo budget for misc fun expenses.

If you go in as an officer, you're going to be making bank. You get paid from the day you show up for training until your last day in the service. Everything is paid for and you'd be able to sock away as much cash as you want with almost no expendatures. I know for enlisted, you get housing, food and medical care paid for. Officers get a better deal and you can get on delayed entry where they'll pay for you to finish up your degreeOriginally posted by sc281 View PostWho said anything about a 5k annual budget?
