My wife just got her degree in athletic training. She got hired on at a local high school and while the money is very good with her stipend it is a hell of a lot of hours. She teaches four classes, does treatments before and after school, and then attends most of the sporting events. Leaves the house at 6 am and gets home around 8 pm most of the time. I can see now why they get the summer off.

2 year or 4 year doesn't matter. Either way it pays quite a bit more money then a high school.

Being she is educated in science, more specifically Biology, she is in a high demand field.

A college instructor is also a less demanding job then k-12. It's strictly a 8-5 job and that gives an employee plenty of time to create lesson plans, grade, set up labs etc.

Her starting off at 70 is hopeful I agree, but upper 50's and low 60's is right around the ball park where an individual with a masters in biology would receive.

Very true. No job should be secured against you sucking at it

It's not uncommon for my wife to have students to come in late, because they are putting in a 2nd shift at McDonald's so their dead beats parents can afford to keep the light bill on.

I'm really hoping she can find a college to go teach when she gets her masters and starts making the 65-70k a year she at a minimum deserves.
