MANY businesses say it's an immediate 15% drop in sales from day 1. Some recover, and some drop even further. You can think what you please, but I've seen it first hand. Smoking bans do hurt the business owners. Eventually, it won't be a problem at all. Once everyone has banned it. But the way it is now.... I can't smoke in Dallas, but I can in Irving. You know where I'm going when I go out? I can't smoke in Lewsivlle, but I can in Addison. Again, guess where I'm going to spend my money... And yes, there are people just the opposite of me. But usually, the people that piss and moan about the smoke smell, won't increase their going out, or frequency of visits to a place just because they banned smoking. However, the people that can no longer smoke, will almost always go somewhere else.

This! The only time I smoke is when I drink. I'll be damned if I'm going to a bar where I can't smoke. I don't go out nearly as often as I used to so, fuck me.

I'm not a smoker, but I think it will absolutely hurt many local businesses to some degree. There's a reason why this doesn't happen at Casinos. Smoking is tied to alcohol sales and how long you're going to sit down and keep squandering your money to the house. That's a big revenue stream.
