I think there are way too many things that could go wrong. His suit rips, he's dead. Loses pressure, dead. Runs out of oxygen, dead. There is no evidence (that I know of) that a human can survive a 12 mile free fall. Nor is there any idea what effect breaking the sound barrier like that will have on his body. Let's not forget, the potential for heart attacks, etc. Any number of things can go wrong. How are they even sure the chute will hold up to the force with that much momentum? I did see, where the chute is rigged to open automatically on the chance he passes out.

It was mentioned in the "Skydive DFW" thread, but you are the first actual thread about it.

    It's a very amazing jump.

I was reading about this last night. Nuts!
Austrian skydiver Felix Baumgartner will attempt to become the first human to break the sound barrier unaided by a vehicle.

    Spacedive is a Go

I'm sure there's been a thread created on it, but I wasn't able to locate it. Anyway, that crazy asshole will begin his ~2:30 hour ascent in an hour and a half. If someone has created another thread, if you could point me to it, I'll gladly post in there.
Working...
