They are forged and I have heard from several people that PCing weakins the forging. They are already super light, 19lbs in a 18x9.5 so any chance of weakening them worries me.Originally posted by UserX View Postwhy would you not want them powdercoated?Interested in being a VIP member and donating to the site? I've heard this too, but I think it's urban legend. Try finding actual cases where PC is confirmed to cause wheel failure.Originally posted by Mach1 View PostThey are forged and I have heard from several people that PCing weakins the forging. Shit they bake them at 400-450* for a short time, wheels must get pretty close to this temp during a road course thrashing.
Just my $.02.

Interesting info in this thread, apparently CCW doesn't powdercoat because of safety reasons.
C5 Tech - Is powder coating wheels dangerous? - I want to take a set of stock '02 Z06 wheels and completely powder coat them flat black. (no polished lip) The wheels would be used for street, autocross, and the occasional track day. I have seen a few people on the forum say that this could weaken the wheel but I...Interested in being a VIP member and donating to the site? Click here http://dfwmustangs.net/forums/payments.php

It's all hearsay and second hand information, just sayin. Like I said, find CONFIRMED first hand proof. And even if you find a wheel failure, how can they be certain that the PC process caused it? Shouldn't all the wheels fail then?Originally posted by Mach1 View PostInteresting info in this thread, apparently CCW doesn't powdercoat because of safety reasons.

I've been around cars all my life, many of them 1,000+ horsepower, running PC wheels without a problem.
